That is awesome, GO BLUETICKS. Had a hunch when I saw the bloodlines behind that cross, should be some good ones. Had read about some behind those pups parents. Maybe you guys should consider crossing those two/ Thanks AlUnreal_tk wrote:Al,
He is doing good, has performed well in my program. This last season he made his own pick ups, made plenty of trees. Would I call this dog fast? The answer is no, I have other dogs that flat will smoke him. Would I call him a good dog? Yes. Can this dog catch alone? Yes. Is this dog a good tree dog? Yes. Does he locate well? I haven't had him alone on tall trees, his solo trees was low. When with other dogs, the others usually locate before him. His demeanor is good, other than being hard headed. Worse fault? Whining constantly.
He is built really well, smaller body, long legs, pretty color. 60 lbs ? Feet are put together good.
Any other questions feel free to ask. Just to be clear I am not saying Merlos dog isn't faster, just stating what my opinion is of the dog I own.

If your tired of reading this post then skip this one, its pointless!! Just wanted to say thanks to merlo for lighting the fuse! Real housewives drama was getting old! Weird how the same people, in the same debate, on the same channel, everyday..., same debate... Blah blah blah... Oh never mind. Before I forget I wanted to get my foot in the door for all the mutt dogs! Lol. Merlo, Good job and congrats with your success bud! All you guys putting your ego and dogs on the line, congrats to you also. Wish I had that confidence. I rigged a coyote two weeks ago with my dead broke dogs. Ha. I tried the hunt off stuff one time too. Waste of gas, time, thought and sleep IMO. Anyway, I forgot the point I set off for and so tired of reading I don't even want to read my rambling over. Good luck to you guys!! If your new and you stuck threw this, all I would say is don't let other people dictate things as simple as owning a hound hunting the hound and being happy with your hound. Back when I was starting from scratch and bought all the hype about the one special kind of hound you had to have, I seen a straight walker dude take a walker dog out to its last tree. He came walking back and said, "theirs a new one born everyday!" That's all now.

I use to take my drift boat over to the oregon coast and catch quite a few crab. Did real well at it most of the time. So i decided to load up and head to alaska and get rich on the king crab fishery, i had been petty successful for 5 yrs in oregon. I got up there and put my boat in the bearing sea and dumped my pots over board. A big wave came along and swamped me and sunk the boat. While i was bobbing around in the ice water before i froze to death, it dawned on me that there may be different levels of crabbing and that maybe it took better tools to be really successful and haul them in like deadliest catch.

Some guys need all the latest tools and gadgets in their arsenal to try and compensate for a lack of skills. Other's just get the job done....no excuses. The most successful elk hunter I have ever known used a recurve bow.I've noticed over the years that it is always the same guys doing 90% of the catching.Doesn't seem to matter what color they have riding around in their box from year to year.mark wrote:I use to take my drift boat over to the oregon coast and catch quite a few crab. Completely agree, but those type of guys didn't figure it out after a couple go rounds. I learn new stuff every year about critters and dogs that I didn't realize before. I've never learned a single thing by talking about it. It's all been learned by listening, watching, trying, screwing up then refining.Trueblue wrote:Some guys need all the latest tools and gadgets in their arsenal to try and compensate for a lack of skills. As much as we want to complicate things, the game will always revolve around putting dogs with the right stuff in them and on tracks we want them to run. Repeat. It's all abut time and tracks, the more you spend the better the results with what you're putting down.
Re: Wow... to Cat hunters
I would bet a lot of money that recurve bow isnt one of those blue fiberglass $39.95 jobs.
Re: Wow... to Cat hunters
Nope.It was home made, not a toy for $39.95.I don't think anyone on here is advocating the use of a toy poodle to get the job done either.mark wrote:I would bet a lot of money that recurve bow isnt one of those blue fiberglass $39.95 jobs.

All that says to me is only 10% of cat hunters have a job
Re: Wow... to Cat hunters
The original post by merlo seemed fishy to me, like someone was using a different user name and trying to see if they could shake things up a little. So everything i have posted has been tongue in cheek except that i believe that there has to be bred in traits in dogs to be good catdogs, doesnt matter what color or breed. If you looked in My kennel you would see color doesnt matter to me. So i am apologizing to merlo if this is not a bogus thread and if it/you are for real come to the gathering and i will apologize to you in person also. I was just having some fun with it. Once again sorry if its real but hangn with shady tricksters has made me cautious lol. Peace out
