is anybody a east texas or west louisiana cat hunter?

Post by eastxdogman »

There are so many cats in our area and nobody dogs them on purpose. Everybody is hog hunters. Mr. Hoot Gibson used to run 'em but he is in BAD shape. I always thought a man could have some great running here on cats. Every now and then Ill here about a coonhunter that accidentally had a cat race but that's it. All the fox and coyote hunters are running behind fences now. We've got lots of good roads and national forest and I've got a good club also, guess I need some cat dogs now! My beagles will have to do until I get several thousand dollars together for a cat hound.

Buck Nelson from the Carthage area has/had some nice young Hounds and a solid broke old dog.

Before you get too far into this read everything you can in this section....there is a reason there ain't a Bobcat Hunter on every road.....and it is not only the Price of a Cat Hound!

My # is on the bottom of the page call and I will give you some names of folks to talk to!

It's not impossible to make your own from pups, just a lot of work. If you have that many cats I'd start looking for some well bred pups. Get some live trap and set the pups up to win watch them grow And just have fun. Good luck

Hey fellas, I appreciate the feedback. Just so's you know, I know how hard cats are to run. Man they are something else. And hardly ever hold a tree in this area. I will call you sometime soon and we can visit. Also, Jeff, I appreciate your posting of Jesus at the bottom, He's number one. Thanks guys!

Yes Sir, I notice that too. Harder to catch or tree than South Texas but bigger cats and much longer runs.

Timintx,

The Huntsville area has produced some of the BEST Cat races Dad ever had. He hunted the area from Bedias to Trinity in the 1960s and early 70s. For years the two biggest Bobcat he had caught came from just north of Huntsville (35#).

Huntsville also produced one of the best Cat Hunters in Mr. Buster Moore. He hunted with Dad till Dad moved to Louisiana and Florida to hunt. Mr. Buster was Big N Blues mentor....lots of good stories could be had there!

Good Luck!
