Toyota motor info 22 re

Post by jasongNV »

I'm looking to replace my 86 22re with another. I found a 95 22re in a 4runner that has low miles and sounds good. I know the wiring harness is different on the 2 years but I'm wondering if my efi and all the 86 parts will just swap so I don't have to change the ecu or harness. Basicly take the long block from the 95 and swap all the 86 parts to it. Any info would help, researched a ton of sites and wiring is the only thing I can find different. Thought some of you Toyota hunters could help me out. Thanks Jason

swapped a 89 pickup engine out with a early 90's 4 runner and there was a smog line or something extra on the 4 runner. Didn't matter though. just capped it off.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I know the injectors and things like that are different so just swapping all the parts from one to another seems like the way to go. I'm much more mechanically inclined than electronically. The 86 has an auto in it so I'm swapping that out to, that will have a little wiring to do I think but should be easy enough.
