Teachers Shocked, Frightened After School Holds Unplanned Shooting Drill

HALFWAY, Ore. (CBS Seattle/AP) — Teachers were shocked and caught off guard when an Oregon school held a school shooting drill.

The Oregonian reports Pine Eagle Charter School in Halfway held the drill last Friday as children were home for an in-service day. Two masked “gunmen” burst into a meeting room holding 15 teachers firing blanks. Teachers only realized it wasn’t a real shooting when none of them were bleeding.

“There was some commotion,” school principal Cammie DeCastro told The Oregonian.

Teachers were frightened about what happened.

“I’ll tell you, the whole situation was horrible,” Morgan Gover told the paper. “I got a couple in the front and a couple in the back.”

The school held the unplanned drill in hopes to better educate teachers on how to deal with a school shooting. Of the 15 teachers in the room, only two would have survived.



What would have happened if a teacher had been concealed carry? What does this do to your children? WTF is going on? This is the craziest thing I've seen today. Guess here is another example of why homeschooling your children is a good idea.

Griz, I read that story about an hour ago and told my co-workers too bad someone did not crack a chair over these knucklheads and kill em both.
What if the trauma had caused someone to go into cardiac arrest or a child have a asthma attack.
People have gone slap ass crazy.

The drill was bad enough, but the school administration's response was terrible. Those teachers should sue the shit out of the district and I am not one for recommending litigation, but this is wrong. If this stuff is allowed, can we run "drills" in our senator's, bosses, etc offices? We all know the answer to that, yet these asshats who "educate" our children are allowed to get away with this.

We do them here in Utah. The kids and teachers plus parents know it is going to happen. It is still pretty intense. We did one at our high school last year. Very positive results. People learn real fast that things are way different when it goes down. The key is parents,teachers and kids need to be involved.

Really, that's ridiculous. Subjecting the children to that kind of shit. You are much more likely to get killed by a police officer, lightning, hell walking down the street than you are to be killed in a mass shooting incident. I wouldn't let my kids attend school that day.

A local water district (lots of water bill payments received) decided to play one of these scenarios out a while back. Being men, the fake bandits took some liberty and added masks and props. It was too much stress for one of the receptionists, who thought it was a real stickup, and she went out on disability, etc. Costing them a whole lot of money.
Play stupid games, and win stupid prizes.

As BigBlue said, it would have been a kicker if a teacher took it to the impersonators and cleaned their clock. I wonder if the paper would have headlined it:
"The school board is estatic today, our teachers can clearly deal with saftey issues as they arise and protect the children put into their care. In a mock attack yesterday, 15 heroic teachers selected at random instinctivley responded and beat to death two masked assailants, who happened to be school administrators. The administrators will be easily replaced next week as there is a glut of overeducated fools with no common sense applying for their job."

edit: Forgot to add that I can tell you what has happened to your Oregon schools. Too many liberal fruitcakes trying to escape the lunacy of themselves, their family, and their politicians have moved north and brought it all with them. Idaho and Montana better hang tuff, but I am hearing of signs that they are slowly succombing to the infestation as well. If it was a tree, I would prune off CA, OR, WA and CO. Not sure, but NV, AZ, NM and UT may be salvageable.

We do fire drills in schools all the time. When was the last time there was a fire in a school. We need to have teachers who are prepared to protect our children when some animal wants to use them as target practice. I strongly encourage all schools to be involved in lock down drills so our children aren't slaughtered by some psycho who has played too many violent video games.

Nicely put. One question to the idiots that were in charge. Did they also tell the faculty to defend themselfs with butter knives?? And what do you think the main street media would have reported. If a gentleman that was handy with a 300 win was watching out his home window, into the classroom window. And shot one of the wanna be actors between the eyes. Probably would want to put the hero in prision. An Ahole is an Ahole no matter how ya look at them!!
