would he tree on bear? if so he just might not have the drive to tree coon cuz he likes bear more. but i'd just get him amped up at the tree for awhile to get him treein then knock it out to em. then after doin that fer awhile he should realizing if he trees he gets the coon. also tyin em back from the tree like 10 er 15 ft and smackin the tree and gettin em to bark like that has worked good fer me. good luck.

sometimes dogs like one animal more than the other and they care more. But I would have to agree with Perky's second idea. Tie him up away from the tree and get him siked up from there and yes he will realize that it is good to tree more that one animal :)

I second this. Wick says that dogs typically like the animal you start them on the best, which in your case would be bear. I had to do this with my majestic.. she would hit the tree and then wander around the base of the tree but not leave the tree. Tied her up to a sapling right near every tree, and got her excited about it. Now she won't leave the tree and she barks treed.

Tie them up, teaches them that you want them to stay at the tree. It also is just good practice to, as if the coon comes down and is still quite lively its cheaper to give him another high speed lead implant than it is to have a young dog get cut up or scratched.
