should i?
have a opputuity to get 2 older coon hounds.. FREE 10 and 7 yrs old.. should I ? be my first coon dogs and would be good pup starters later... I have a empty kennel for the female plot and the English male I have a house for him and a chain.
Re: should i?
free is only good if they can get it done for sure , i would get the one that would be good for training a pup whether it is the 7 or 10 they must be good natured with pups and be straight.a good treedog . coondogs dont have to be fast for coon so age isnt a big deal ,if your going to be in it for the long haul bringing up a pup helps . even free i would want to see them get it done before i commited . once you own them there is nothing free about taking care of them , the gas and your time .the last thing a hunter starting out needs is a cull. it is hard enough with good dogs when your starting out.always be skeptical when getting dogs especially free ones.

Re: should i?
I called this guy and hes getting out of it cause his life is just too busy with a growing family and work. The English male is a Hardtimes line.. I will do some research. The English runs coon and cat and the plot runs coon cat, and bear. not interested in bear hunting just yet but its a possibility. I have his address and will be looking at the dogs thurs after work. My girlfriend is gonna blow a gasket if I come home with them but I don't say anything about her 2 cats she paid almost 2000$ for... We talked about 45 mind and he knows a lot and used to guide. I will keep you posted.. I did talk to a buddy and he said, you don't need a young dog to run coon or cat, and they are still around at this age cause they are good dogs probably... so I am hoping for the best..

I would contact Big N' Blue on here and get his take on the situation at hand. I'm sure he would be very helpful, as he has done things quite similar in the past. Good luck!
