Hey folks.
Every year Skinner Creek hunts donates hunts to a non profit organization called Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation in Apollo Beach Florida. WWIAF is good about covering the cost associated with transportation to and from and non resident license and tags are also covered. Doug picks up the cost of the donated hunts and I handle transportation and field assistance. This has grown and looks like it might possibly be an annual event. I need not say just how cool it is to offer what we have and give something back to our veterans. These are all purple heart recipients, all have been wounded in the field and some are disabled.

Everything appears to be covered except the taxidermy work after the harvest. Who can get me connected with a studio or organization that could possibly assist in rate reductions or donated work or? Several years ago I used a taxidermy training facility that only does work for taxidermy studios and was real reasonable. Cost for a bear rug with two layers of border felt complete was around five hundred dollars. I know times are tough....When you get involved with our veterans who have made such a tremendous sacrifice for our freedoms, you can't help but want to do all you can and more!

Right after the cat hunters gathering, I'm leaving for B.C. and taking a former Marine from Oregon who received two purple hearts in combat to Skinner Creek for a spring bear hunt and sure would like to see a bear rug hanging on his wall to honor his service to our Country. Many return with medical cost well above and beyond what is covered and little expenses occur and sure strains these military families.

I think this problem has been solved! I also happen to think Mr. Dean Hendrickson is a true American Patriot!
This is a classic example of the brotherhood on BGH.

I think we need to follow the action from the hunt in the field to the final stage of taxidermy. Without all the volunteers, none of this would be possible. I'm honored to be a small part of such a huge bunch of American and Canadian hero's!

Just got off the phone with Dean Hendrickson and I will begin a thread to follow all the action as it unfolds from the trip to the hunt in the field to the taxidermy studio of Dean Hendrickson. This should be fun and looking forward to monitoring this as it happens play by play!
