Radio experts

Post by walkerhoundsjandrin »

hey folks I have an Icom fm ham vhf radio that runs the 6 digit number channels for the frequency. example 155.510 I am wanting to hunt with someone who runs a marine band radio thats a two digit number. like 14. I think if i understand this correctly the marine bands numer channels correspond with the radio frequency so like 14 might be the same as 156.300 or something to that nature. Is this what you guys understand too? I think that I should be able to dial mine into the frequency that goes with the marine band and be able to talk back and fourth, but didnt know if anyone could help clear this up or ensure my understanding. thanks in advance for the help.

Your right. I run an ICOM radio also and all my hand held are marine.... I found a frequency chart for marine channels and programmed them into my ICOM in my truck...only problem I have found is there is a few marine channels that transmit on one frequency and receive on another and I'm not smart enough to figure that one out lol...but only about 3 channels are like that in the entire marine band of channels... hope that helps
