Seeing what eveyone out there does. Myself its hiking in. Cats seem to tree usually faster than a bear and Im a lion hunter. Never ran a bear with hounds.
I also don't believe in harvesting everything I tree the sport is in the hunt and training the hound so no lugging a lion out unless its a true prize. Just wonder what everyone out there does....

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God - 1 Corinthians 1:18 (NIV)

At home it is vehicles.. We have great road systems.. You can cover a lot of miles and see tons of bobcat tracks
We have wanted to do it off of horse back but it is so flipping brushy where we live, it would be impossible to keep up with the dogs. And our wilderness areas have lots of lava flows and such that makes it a real pain to get the horses around.. Out of state cat hunting is done with both vehicle and on foot. And my butt is going to be waayyy out of shape for walking this year

I voted ATV but it is more like all of the above depending on the locations I am going to be hunting and conditions.

For lion hunting I do a little of each, and still enjoy hiking or casting the hounds along a trail or two-track road and riding the ATV or afoot. It's always great fun to watch the hounds strike and roll out on a track, something that is far more fun than dumping off the road.
As for bears, I ususally run off the rig as it is the most productve way to strike bears where I hunt. The excitement is still there when the dogs all blowup off the box, which offers a different start than walking and striking with hounds for lion. Both are great fun but different.
