Wisconsin bears?

Postby Gary Gentry » Sun Jul 07, 2013 11:20 pm

I was on the Wisconsin DNR sight and read up on the class A and B tags but could not find anything about out of state hunters running bears with hounds. The way I read it they would have to have a class B tag but is that all is needed? Any info would help I have always wanted to run bears in the North woods.

I believe that is all you need. A class B license. That is all residents need to run bear. There is no hound handler license or anything like that. Call or text me Jim @715 965-1987 if u wanna run or have anymore questions

Yep that is all you need is a class B license. I think it's $110 for non res. If you've never had a WI hunting license or one for a long time you get it for half price or $54.75.

As I read this post Gary I recognized your name. Two years ago in Indiana I picked up a female puppy out of a litter of yours at Autumn Oaks. I named her Autumn. She's almost two and I have only hunted her strictly on bear. I want to pass along that I'm very happy with her and her style of chase. She's gained a lot of speed since last year and tree's like a seasoned vet. May 4th this year she had a litter of 15 pups, 8 made it. It was an accidental with my purebred redbone. All the pups were spoken for except one male which is the runt and I still have him plus the one I chose to keep. I guess I just wanted to let you know a relative to your dogs is getting it done here in Wisconsin. Good luck on your adventure if you choose to come chase some bears.

Thanks for the update Travis I am glad to hear she worked out for you I have gotten some good reports on them pups. A sister to yours also has become a top lion dog here in Montana. And Echo there sire has became a real nice solo bobcat dog.
