Tim,
Here are the TOP 3 things that you will need to do to BE SUCCESSFUL Bobcat Hunting un Texas:
#1. Locate a Place to Hunt. As most of Texas is Private Land this will require you to work hard locating Country then Establishing a relationship with the Landowner to gain permission to hunt. You need 2500 contiguous Acres at a Minimum as A Cat will try to go home when jumped. The last thing you need is DEAD Hounds because they Trespassed on the Neighbors land where you did not have permission to Hunt. Yes in Texas a Landowner can and will Kill your Hound/dog as it may be about to cause injury or harm to that Landowners Livestock or Wildlife.....in some cases the Wildlife is worth more than the Livestock!
#2. & #3. Is the same as #1. You find a place to Hunt and one of the "Good-uns" will be glad to help you. By the same token they are/will be hesitant to take you to their "Honey Holes" as it is a privilege to get access to these properties and they (the Good Cat Hunters) do not want some one else to SCREW UP their Access!
The National Forest over East of you is going to be tough to hunt because of the Forest's Hound/Dog Rules and the Attitudes of others who are using the forest.
There are some Big Ranches in the Brazos Bottoms between Hwy 290 and I-10, also below I-10 to the Coast. Politic your way onto these and one of the good Cat hunters from South Central Texas will be your bud.
Try attending the Trophy Hunter Shows and meeting some of these Deer Ranchers. They look for help with Predator control. You might Join the Texas Deer Breeder Asso. as a way to meet folks who will let you Hunt.
There are 5 Good Cat Hunters who I can think of about 75 to 125 miles west and south of you. All have BROKE Dogs and would probably take you Hunting but NOT you and your Hounds. If you do not Understand Why they would do this.....well then there ain't a whole lot more that I can do to Help you!
Tim this last Para is not so much directed to you as we have talked at length before, but to others who are in the same predicament as you!

Re: need help in tx
I would just add a few things and the first being make sure your hounds are dead deer broke because the ranches that I have found with high population of bobcats also have a very high population of trophy bucks. Most land owners are already dog shy so the first time your hound chases a deer your gone.
You do not need anyone, just make some dirt hole sets without a trap and point a game camera and once Bobcats start hitting the bait turn them loose on the fresh track. When they are pups put a beach towel in a live trap with a bobcat and play with the pups with the towel. I train all my dogs like this because that way you know they have what it takes without the help of others hounds.
If I was looking for a bobcat hound the parents would have to be related from a family of cat hounds and related as far back as possible. I would look for a breeder who does not look for a reason not to cull but any reason at all to cull.
I have found very good places in West Texas by getting on deer leases and a month or two after deer season hunting the place usually by myself. I love high fence ranches because your dogs are safe.
Most of the places that I go, I am a guest so it’s hard to take someone else along. Like anything else at first it’s hard and if you stick with it doors open up.
Good Luck.
