Alpha issues

Post by Rabidninjaboar »

well i dont know who invented these useless goddamn fake rip off tracking gear....i am absolutely fuming...i have spent a fortune on them in the first place buying 6 collars and 2 units about 4 months ago now yet again i am back down to 1 good one and 1 dodgy one....now i have sent 2 collars back and have been charged factory replacement fees cause they call it fricking pig damage and the other was the condenser shat itself...now today excuse the pun but im ropable i (beep) near ended up with 2 dead dogs thanks to these pieces of shit....one has started to work again after performing a master reset but doesnt help the fact that i have a 4500 dollar vet bill cause they decided not to work...they are both the factory replacement collars...ive had astro since they originally came out and actually had 5 original dc30s and 6 next model dc 30s and only had one break due to systematic fault... the rest are write off cause of pig damage....now i spent hours looking for 3 dogs that were supposedly over 800m apart it showed icons...the closer i got the further away the dog icon moved now i know this from wet fern it plays on the satillite...but yet ya always have comms so therefore it will stay wif an icon and ya can figure it out...anyhow...the collar that was on the dog i found floating down the creek like barely alive ripped to ribbons his collar came up treed so i went straight to it well fick me if i got to where the treed icon was and standing right there half expecting to find them wif a pig it remained put the whole afternoon till i found him and turned the collar off which now will only single flash when it kept saying it had comms when i was racing around looking for a ghost...then one of the other came up well over a mile away so i raced to that when i was half way there it said it was 60miles away....this collar is now working again after a master reset but this should never have happened on the hill....i had learnt my lesson about pig damage and how much of a farce garmin is supposedly selling gear for pigdogs and yet the latest are just absolute crap....now i want to get this remaining collar picking up gps comms i have spent the past 3 hours googling it with absolutely no luck whatsoever...turns on charges i have done master reset and also re updated thinking there may have been a glitch...now thanks to garmin and their halfwit product im nearly 10 grand out of pocket and probably cant hunt my dogs for nearly a month!!!!! :agmnt     in the end the original collar that i got in the first package regained comms and i got to him crawling his way back up the hill in which i had to carry the other dog back to the car as hed started howling in the gut...im selling this crap and going back to the astro wif the dc 30s...the dc 40s are crap too...isnt a companys idea to progress a reputation not destroy it which is what they have definitly done here today...

Not sure what kinda of help you are wanting. Im not saying that the collars are made great but we cant really expect Garmin to make them Bulltet Proof. That would be like me complaining if one of my tt-10 collars got busted by a car and expected them to replace it.

I do not HOG hunt but have been before and the guys round here put vest and collars on their hounds so the wont get cut, maybe you could a protective sleve to put over your collar. I hate that yuou lost your dogs and have broken collars but that is kinda like bear hunting.

Alpha issues

I'm actually kinda shocked you only use garmin as a tracking device. I use to and some older more experienced guys told me garmin is a luxury not a guarantee. I didn't really understand until they convinced me to buy a telemetry system. I be damned if the next weekend the garmin failed and I had to use the ole beep beep. Me personally I don't drop my dogs without both tracking devices and I haven't had issues yet.

What I'm asking is what is wrong wif this collar...the wires and boxes are all 100% protected...it's a joke...the collar is still single flashing it can be connected to a unit but will not pick up sattilute or comms...use it for tracking my dogs that is all...I sold all my alpha gear cause its shit!!! Gone back to the faultless astro dc30s and 220...I've explained what happened in my original post and how the icon stayed there...wif no comms or GPS...now none of the wires are broken etc the collar is only 2 weeks old
