The hound world lost a jewel today!

This morning Karen Holcumb passed away.

Karen was one of the rare women to find a niche and become successful in the world of lion hunters.

She was also one of the ever dwindling members of "the old timers". Karen hunted with Dale and Clell Lee, Bill Workman, Hershall Downs, and many others. Before marrying Richard Holcumb, she was Karen LeCount. Karen wrote hunting stories in Arizona Hunter and Angler (no longer around), and Full Cry.

I received a call last Wed. evening, telling me that she was in the hospital, and in bad shape. I called around and found her at home. I was pleasantly surprised when she answered the phone, and I was able to have a short visit with her. I left the next morning, picked up a buddy in Tonto Basin, and we spent the next day, (Friday) visiting her and Richard in their home. What a blessing it was to see her with her eyes still sparkling and her smile still filling the room with joy!

Karen knew Christ as her Savior, so all is well for her!

My life was made richer just because I could call Karen a friend!!!

Sad to hear it Benny, but so glad you and Justin made the trip. Glad she is not suffering anymore and i am sure Clell had a horse or mule saddled for her. We need to hold Richard up and support him because he not only lost a wife and hunting buddy but a best freind.
