You'll be happy to know the bears and cougar are still in the prairre/pine area. We have seen several bears and have had cougar tracks on top of boot tracks in the fire burned areas. Also had two wolves walking down the road.

You'll also find out that the fire will be the best thing for you're hunting area. More elk and deer will start using the area within weeks after the fire. A few years from now, the elk and deer will be bigger and a lot more of them because of the fire.

I'm facing the same thing here in the Gila.. the silver fire got within a half a mile of my place. It burned the top and most of the places I had found where the lions cross.. wondering if this will change there patterns?

Fires are the best thing that can happen to your hunting area! You guys that think your area is ruined will be very happy about the fires impact in the next few years. The area will hold so much more game then it ever did before, and the bears and lions will be right behind them.

Here in the Pine Ridge of Nebraska we are at the one year mark post fire, some of the larger trees we cut to do or redo fencing were over 100 years old. We had some good rains and got great growth of grasses and other fire climax plants. Lions ,deer, turkeys are all back in normal places. Just give it a year and break out the wolf snares this winter.
Oh Alaska often has wildfires, record was 4 to 5 million acres a few years ago.

Just after the post I put on here, in California we had a big one. "The rim fire", was one of the biggest I'd ever seen here. Crazy how so much beautiful land, can turn into ash so quickly. Fire is one fierce piece of nature!! Big thanks to all those who fight them
