bkmr yeah i guess your right i have never had any luck with fords either but some people like them and have a use for them its all a opinion thing i was just voicing mine i never got the opportunity to stop my young dog from trashing on a dam porky cause the only time she ever trashed it killed her. but i did learn from the whole thing now when ever i see one i kill it and then see if my young dogs want to trash on it and stop it right then and there. dogs get killed every day for one reason or another i get your point and i always feel bad when it happens we have lost good dogs to bear but they where doing what they where born and bred to do and i have a lot of respect for the bears i just do not have any for porky pines i see them as nothing of any value and cannot see they serve any purpose .JUST MY OPINION!!!
And i would also like to say i am truley sorry about you losing a dog in the road that sucks .

A lot of ranchers kill coyote fox etc to protect their livestock. One pork cost me $700 so far this year.I do have to say one of my dogs is definetly proven herself to have grit but I am still pulling quills 3 weeks later.I say kill em all they have a lot less value in the wild than what the ranchers are killing.

I don`t understand, what livestock is a fox killen ? you must mean chicks I guess cause the go for big studdly mice a quail but not deer, calves, sheep nor goats ! OK chicken could maybe livestock too to a farmer.Id think, wheelzels, cyote, coon wouldand bobcat and lion goen after chicken ,maybe banties a fox might could carry one off.
And leaven a hound with any porkie pine quills in it for 3 weeks/ ya deserve a sitation by F & G by thunder and the police for pet crulity/ do ya think your dog can drive hisself too the vets ? I`1m being too hard cause the $ 700.00 vet bill was enoughf of a lesson for the first blunder biddie I suspect you will gaurd against that again.
In stead of me getting on ya,here is a tip for quills : They are hollow and ya need tweesers, plires and too cut the quill intwo above the plires hold on the quill/ letting iut the air an poisson ! Then use the pliers too pull the barrbed hsank out, or if too deep in the lips/just shuve it all the way through/ keep a bottle of porrixxoide too boil out the puss & poisson and then on the out side of the skinn put some blue note infection protection blue ointment on him. Stay with it and put a stick in his mouth and wrapp his mouth taped losed on the stick so he cant bite ya/ inside the mouth quills don`t mess with have a vet pull pdq !
We all have gone through this ourselves and had help when needed/ next time get ahold of a hunter whos been through it befor and knows what too trouble shoot and what ya should do pdq .
I think you misunderstood my post Cecil.I am still pulling quills three weeks later that have worked their way out.I pulled about 2 hundred from this dog and they were still down the throat in the nasal passage.I gave this dog another chance and took it to the vet just about put her down.Paid $700(2 dogs} they put her out and pulled quills for an hour. There are still a few showing up working there way out but she is doing fine.I wished I would have taken a picture because this dog was plum full of em.Anyhow leave them dog cruelty comments to yourself next time. Oh maybe I am being to hard on ya.

You need a new vet. Mine charges $49. That includes pen g and a weeks worth of antibiotics.
Don't buy the hype.
