NEED HELP

Ive tried tuna,syrup,and a few other things to trap coon in a live trap. I am far from consistent and by heck I know there is a bundle of coons around my trap. They seem to trip it. My trap is the double sided type. Thanks in advance for any help from you ol traapers That will help me catch more coon.

Hmm sounds like a glitch with your trap. I can't seem to find a double sided one in the stores where I'm from but I know the single door traps are usually $40-$60, depending on the size. I think your bait should be working fine.

GO TO BILL BOATMAN AND THE HAVE A SINGLE DOOR TRAP AND IT WORKS GREAT. TUNA SHOULD GET THE JOB DONE

is your trap a havaheart,try just setting one side,w/both sides set,very easy to set off,bump,wind etc would set ours off,

try smearing some bait on the trigger itself as well and make sure you dribble a little in front of the trap to entice them to the opening. I have found that by putting bait on the trigger they are more apt to set it off especially if you set the trigger lightly. They might not be all the way in the trap but when the door comes down and hits them on the butt they will usually go forward and then you have them.

They might be reaching through the wires to get at the bait rather than going inside the trap. So try using some brush on the sides. Or put the trap against rocks, anything to block easy access to the sides of the trap. But be sure not to put anything in the way of the moving parts.

You might also try sardines in oil. I have real good luck with them.

Just use one door and set the bait to the rear. place something under the front part of the trigger so it won't go off till they get to the rear of the trap. also, a rock on the open door will help close it quicker when it is tripped.

If your using tuna or cat food in a can works well. Tie it to the back of the trap with wire and just oped to were they can just get there tung in it. This will make them work harder to get the food and stay in there longer to set off the trap.

use salmon in a can and throw some marshmellows in there with it thats what i use and i catch a lot of coon to transport to my feeders them coon love marshmellows.

marshmallows work great and will not catch house cats or skunk.

Just use a Plasticatch trap. their about 60$, 10" will work fine. bait it with apple slices, keeps cat's away. and set it in a good location where you know coons are locating. You'll have him in the morning, guaranteed!
