When bobcat hunting I use wool pants. I have some Colombia and army sets depending on how the temps have been ranging. With these I use what are call gaiters to prevent snow balling on the pants and also keep it from going down my boots. For headwear I use mad bomber hats with rabbit fur. For gloves I use goretex snowboarding gloves. My coat is wool but rarely use it... usually a sweatshirt with a carhart vest with some good long johns. I also use goretex snowmobile gear when rising my sled and keep my other gear on hand if I hike anywhere. If you need to cross a river always strip completely down and put the clothes back on... wool will warm ya back up.

Not a big fan of wool, come out lookin like a snow man. I prefer an insulated jean like pants(not sure of the name) sprayed down with camp dry couple times a month. Sheds snow and water. Make sure you duck tape the bottoms to the waterproof boots and you can almost wade a river without getting wet. Keyword is almost...lol...You can break through ice up to your waist and if your quick enough, you stay dry. Unlike wool where you carry around an extra 10 lbs of moisture.

Same here on the extra weight, I bought a pair of Browning wool bibs and after a few hours the weigh 10-20 extra pounds.

Mondo find out what the brand is. I would like trying a pair of those. Although I probably will still use wool mostly but I like giving other stuff a try!

Everyone around here wears wool pants for snow hunting. I wear lightweight woolrich with underarmour underneath. The key for me is I don't get wet from the outside with the wool and don't sweat out on the way in with the underarmour. Nothing ruins a tree like being semi-hyperthermic and a fire never takes the chill completely away. Haven't tried the gaitors yet, but my 13" schnee's don't really let much snow in.

Do you wear actual under armor brand under clothes or another brand?

Off brands are no substitute for the real thing when it comes to underarmour IMO. I wear it as well. I have 3 different types for different hunting styles. Newby you would love gaiters.

I saw a nice pair of under armour pants at sportsmans the other day that would be perfect for snow conditions if its not frigidly cold. Made of cotton but nylon on the outside with water repellent. Pretty pricey but everything under armour is.

I wear Filson wool pants basically from October thru April. I change what I wear under them based on the temp...from light "pajama pants" when its warmer to Army surplus "under Armor" when its really cold. I wear Kenetrek boots, insulated or non depending on the temp. I used to use Kenetrek gators but switched to Outdoor Research because they handle the side of the crampons better, don't tear nearly as much. I can walk thru water deeper than the boots without getting my feet wet if I don't dawdle.

Well having a family I go simple. military pants or good ol blue jeans long johns underneath with a double sock good boots and gaiters I run warm anyway. nock off under armour or good long jon top hoodie and my homemade worn our button up shirt and a neck muff and carhartt bennie to top it off.I hunt of wheeler or sled and have waded threw belly deep stuff and hunted when it's blowing sideways. if you know how to layer that one big heavy layer is not necessary and you can be more mobile in thick or rocky spots. Below the knee spandex pants with a pair of 18" top lace to the toe caulk boots, a 10" crown 4" brim cowboy hat and roll my own cigarets. Between having to tie my boot laces rolling a smoke and chasing my hat i NEVER get cold. :D
