Mange?
Hi .. I rather doubt if your female has mange or an alergy to hay or straw.
some years back the old Queen female I had would do that ever time she whelped.
this last female that I raised pups from did it also.
I would believe that she is undergoing a hormone imbalance... that is some thing than some of them just go thru during that time frame.
after the pups are weaned and she gets going again it will most likely clear up.

mange
Calkins, you are certainly correct about using USED motor oil to cure mange. I like to add a little sulphur. Have used this several times over the years with very good results. Some vets will tell you not to use it because it supposedly can do damage of some kind, but I have never had a problem.

driftwood blue hit it probably right to what your describen + also mites egg still in the box ?
Ya don`t want too use used crank-case motor oil/hot watter,KRS sheep wound med. and a tiny amount of sulfer= it will kill the puppys, after she is done melken em an they are weaned/ get ridd of the box and take clorrxx mixed with hose water and spry all her pen and soforth and put up a new house for her,but while doing that dip her like he and I was tellen ya the thing is too keep it out of her eyes and mouth and rubb it in good all over here body and then take a burrlap sack and rubb her down good and get as much off that way but rubben it in deeper. It will seal off the poores in her skin and she will not let the egges from the under skin layers germanate they will die off in 72 hrs.
But ya got too keep her in a dog box or a plastic kennels onletten herout for warer and super and too clean-out/then right back in the crate or dog box ! She will catch phnamonnia if ya dont get her in a dog box or dog crate with fresh wheat strae not johnson grass nor rice straw ! Keep any chicken away from the dog kennels and or dog chain out area and away from your dog box also!Mites also could be there now but that getting the pups weaned and away first is a must + after ya medically fix her and the oil drys/put a dront line liquid strip down her back and acrost her shoulders. With in a month she will have new hair comeing back real good and within a 60day periodshe will have a real pretty coat of hair.

The hay you used to bed the box, was it off of a round bale? That is how mange gets spread through coyotes. During the winter they walk through stacks of round bales and when they rub on the bales the mange gets on the bales then on the next coyote that walks through. I used to use prairie hay and went to wood chips just because of mange.

Let me see your war face!!!

Hell the used crankcase motor oil mixture even cures elephuant maing (completely in 30 days) with in 90 days has a full coat of hair ! You cant get store bought stuff too compair with the real silver bullet from way way back used and never ever fails! But after a dog is well I sure believe in front line now yes.
I`m sayen this too mkt about his stuff sellen in stores/ dont believe it and saw it don`t worl near as good in my humble openion.
