road drags

Post by BKMFR »

What type of drags are you guys using? The forest service is getting pretty hard on us dragging roads. We used to use a cultivator-tine drag that would fit into a reese hitch. But, those are very aggressive and we need something to just scratch the road good enough for spotting a track.

A cheep one is a strech pf cyclone chainwire fence about 3 withs wide and bout 12 ft long. ya affixx a 1 x 4 board accrost the front with and pull it from 3 12 ft long sky nylon cord ropes tided too each ens of the truck bumper the 3 ed ont from thr middle of the truck bumpper. lay 3 sacks of filled dirt accrost the end of the dragg and each bout 70 lbs bags filled. the heavy wire will jiggle and scoot thr rd serface but not hurt it non and make for good sighn reads too for bear & lion tracks.

The border patrol is using a bunch of old tires tied together with cables to drag roads near the border. Of corse they don't have to worry about forest service complaining about them messing up the roads. I would think tires would not mess the road up much though.

we have used a good sized tree limb tide to the truck with rope to look for turkeys going a cross the roads i don't see why it wouldn't work for bear or cat but the Forrest ranger butt heads may not like there tree going down the rode

Tires have always worked real good for me.3 tires with chain holding them together, sothey go down the road in a V. each tire will move to uneven roads. The problem I had with fence material is that on rocky roads they start coming apart.
