Big Nevada Tom
Ran this cat Yesterday, solo for 75% of the race until i seen how big the cat was. My 11 year old redtick was pushing him hard off some rim rock through some deer and elk when i spotted the cat. I turned in my walker dog and within another 30 minutes they got him bayed up on some rock ledges. I walked my 7 month old pup in and let him loose when he spotted the lion he became a whole new dog and climbed up the rocks and bayed hard in the lions face. He got smacked off the rock a couple times then stayed out of reach and chopped and bawled like an old pro. There was no where to tie the dogs up without getting real personal with the lion or accidentally jumping him out. Ligned up the shot so the dogs would be out of harms way and made a perfect kill shot except the cat jumped off the rocks and tried to maul my friend. My friend took about a 15 foot fall down into the snow and rocks but the dogs caught the cat at the last second, im talking two feet or less close. My friend landed in deep powder and is okay except really sore. The cat quickly lost steam and the dogs did great including the puppy.I have it on video but with all the cussing and yelling I am embarrassed to show it. I asked my friend ( Can your bird dogs do that?) He laughed and said hell no they would have ran off. He has a new appreciation for hounds and hound hunters that he didnt understand until he got to be part of a hunt of a lifetime.

Re: Big Nevada Tom
Real nice ... second pic is great!
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

Good Story and pics, J.T. I'm sure we would all like to see the footage you got; any way to mute the audio on it?
Re: Big Nevada Tom
That sounds like a spooky fricken deal to me. Nice work though.

Nice pics and story. I guess I'm not the only one that my language changes when I catch a lion!
