Hello
Hello
Thought maybe I better introduce myself after I just started posting haphazardly on the board. I will start with the basics: I am a woman, with 20 years or experience with working dogs (I will take the 5th on the details for the time being). I lived in Iowa for the last 20 years. In the last several years I hunted with Patterdale terriers, Staghounds & running Walkers. Decided the terriers were definitely not for me. I enjoyed the staghounds on coyote but really enjoyed the running Walkers on coyote the most. Don't have much experience with hounds but ran coyote for awhile before I had to get rid of my dogs for personal reasons. Long story short, I moved to Eastern Oregon. I am hoping to get back into hounds and hunt bobcat and whatever else it is still legal to hunt with hounds here. I would appreciate any help or contacts anyone can give me. I am a novice hunter but a veteran dog woman. Just looking for people to hunt with & learn from....nothing more.
Re: Hello
hi Diana. welcome to bgh. so what type of hound are looking to run now? that may have some influence in who you should contact and get to know. good luck.
Re: Hello
Have a soft spot for B&T Walker hounds, but am curious about Treeing Walkers, Blueticks and any other breed that can get the job done. Think I would like tree dogs with perhaps a bit of running dog in them. I am not particular.....a good dog is a good dog no matter the color or breed.

Re: Hello
lookin at the pedigree you posted , that stuff on the bottom , strahan breeding, bad ace at one time he was suppose to be the fastest hound in America, said he was 1 bad unit, if not mistaken he was crossed on webbs hornet stinger j said hornet could run a coyote down by himself, man said he caught 9 in one year alone with hornet stinger, I have hounds that goes back on him 6 times top and bottom they are coyote hounds, but I use mine for fox and bobcat
Re: Hello
Southern fox I've had a few directly off hornet stinger j in the past and they were speed demons. Could really run a coyote. Also have had a few off sharkeys Bronson which was off of stinger. Regular little speed demons with nose.

Re: Hello
got to gyps that's off wilsons punch, he has 2 crosses of hornet in him ,and some hempills happy , terribones benji, crossed on these liquor gyps I have, bred them to jeffs blackjack, he has 2 crosses of hornet on top and coggleys ninny babe on bottom , got 5 of them that's 17 months old they nice hounds broke on grey fox and bobcat
Re: Hello
That's my kind of breeding. I still have some jips with happy up close in them. Had 2 females about 15 years ago off of hood creek rusty he was off Bronson and he was off stinger j. Best 2 female fox dogs I've ever owned hands down. They were balanced just right with speed nose tuffness and brains.

Re: Hello
Wibs hornet stinger j x coggleys ninny babe = sharkeys Bronson. Hood creek rusty off of Bronson won the speed and drive at the all American in 1992. My paw n law was judging and said he was a real hound and could do it on the outside too. That's where my 2 best ever females came from off him. They could do it in the open or in a pen. Lost one to a car on high way and a year later I fished the other ones tracking collar out from under a bridge. Later found her shot thrown out beside a hunting club gate. Never had a chance to breed them.

Re: Hello
The pedigree is for the two pups in the top two pictures. I also owned the mother. She was probably my best dog (not counting her pups). I got both pups started but had to get rid of my dogs when they were about a year old. They were both doing well. The male at the top came in 4th in the Derby at Bucklin, MO and won speed & drive & combination shortly after I got rid of him. Broke my heart to get rid of him & his sister cause I really thought they were going to be good ones.
Cowgurl, where are you located? I assume west of the Cascades since that is usually what "Southern Oregon" means. I would love to find some other houndswomen to hunt with & learn from.
