Dirty Dave most of treadwrights tires are out of stock just order them-usually two three week wait but to me well worth the wait. You can also order all the same type casings on ones not b2b. Call them tell them what you are interested in and they will tell you how long it will be.

To others if you are going to run in hot country all you have to do is make sure proper inflation-don't try to haul a 100,000 pounds in your pick up and they will be fine.

FYI-I read a report years back that there was research done on blown tires along the highway or interstates and 80% where virgin tires.

I have run semis for years and ran both types. I think recaps get a bad rap. Yea I blowed a few caps and it usually was my fault-hauling way over weight-maybe low tires pressure and basically worn out tread.

The way re-treads are made today is way different than 10 years ago. For semi's I had my casings capped (first time) and would let them sit for six months after capping before I used them. I also had some casings be capped multiple times and never had a problem with them. This was years ago.

I also talked to treadwright about casings. The are not worn out-none are used that have patches-they go through a rigorous process to insure a good quality casing before they are capped.

To each their own on the tires they run but one needs to use a product before running one or the other in the ground so to speak....I have used both virgin and caps. My opinion is treadwright makes a stand up product and it saves me money-I like that !

The tire I've had great luck with is the BFGoodrich KM2s.
On my GMC diesel(dually) I can get 45k on a set with an equal mix of off-road, highway and towing. Previous tires from Goodyear, Nitto and Kumo only gave me 25-30k.
The only problem is that its a mud tire so its noisy but the good news is that its limited to the 30-40mph range in town. Highway speeds are fine and not noisy.
Just put a 2nd set on.

I run Treadwright tires in Southeast Utah. Over 100 degrees days on end. Below zero this winter for many days. Redrock, blackrock etc. Hauling mules, pulling 18 foot gooseneck desert roads, Mountains. Have not bought anything else for years. Never had a fail or thrown tread or a fatigued casing. Talked to Treadwright the other day and they said they are four to six weeks out. I for one don't need anyone else buying them, I don't like to wait. I say buy what you like and use em.

Why are people scared of recaps ? Semi's that haul 100,000 pounds all day every day rum recaps..

I work at a tire shop your best buy would be gripper or winter deep recaps on a toyo 255/85r16 casing. If a new truck then you'll be more limited in casing height. And if you are a big baby afraid of recaps Goodyear duratract. Sipe the shit out of them for winter

I went to get the Kelly Safari TSR's and they puts on the Kelly ATR's by accident. They wound up upgrading me for free to the Goodyear Duratracs and so far they work MUCH better than the BFG AT/KO's on rocks, dirt and mud. Have yet to try in snow. They stick like glue. We'll see how long they last.
