My old dog went to the happy hunting grounds today. Best dog I ever owned.
I walked into many trees and bayups that I wouldn't have caught without him. Before I had GPS I turned on a bear and finally got to the tree 50 hours later, with him on the tree and a 9 - month old pup.
His last tree, I turned him on a nasty track on the afternoon of Dec. 31st. Sometime after midnight he finally treed a sow 800 yards off the road. I got to the tree at 2:30 AM. He probably treed the first cougar that got treed anywhere in 2014.

It says a lot about you, that you took care of the old dog after his hunting career was over. I've always thought that if you enjoyed hunting a dog and kept him until old age caught up with him ,then you OWE him a good retirement with pension .lol. Sorry about your loss ,there are to few good ones.

Sorry about your loss, I have had the same empty feeling you are feeling now. Don't let it keep you down...

Hey bud sorry for your loss, I was fortunate enough to get to hunt with luke and now i have a pup out of him, i think she will be the best dog i have ever owned, she is a tough little dog about two weeks ago she got hit by a car broke her front leg, even on three legs she trees my wifes house cat everynight she has some drive and will be a great way to remember her mother and father, thanks again for the pup bud.

Geez, I hope your pup heals alright. I treed a young tom today had a mile into the tree and the pups followed me in. Before I got to the tree I took a picture of the cat, when I got under the tree he started getting nervous and lost his balance and fell out. Fortunately it was steep and the cat landed on the downhill side and the dogs were all on the uphill side. Your pup's littermate went along and opened up on the track and followed the track 600 yards to the next tree. At the 2nd tree she appeared to be in a confused state wondering what happened with it. What more can you expect from a 4 1/2 month old pup.

Yeah bud it seems like these all these pups out of that litter have been doomed from day one, I hope my heels up it has been two weeks and she is using her leg a bit but she still packs it every now and again, i just hope it will not affect her later in life.
