New/old tree dog hunter

Hello members: I am past 70 years old and have actively followed tree dogs for most of those years (Bluetick, English, Leopard, Curs and others). While I have been on hunts for fox, bobcats, coyotes, hogs and bears, almost all of my efforts have been after coon and squirrels.
Being blessed by the Good Lord with very good health, plenty of time, lots of hunting territory and a fair population of bobcats, I have decided to try to step up my game and attempt to train a couple bobcat dogs. If I am starting on an impossible journey please don't tell me, ---just let me go ahead in my ignorance.
My territory consist of rolling hills, clear cuts, pine thickets and thick Sim-coastal bays and heads, with very little open country.
I know that this will be a long term commitment and do not expect to wake up tomorrow with a pair of cat dogs. I hope to share my journey with you from time to time and to ask for your help and advice when I learn enough to know what I need to know.
It is almost 11:00PM here. I am going to post this, then go turn a dog into the woods.

Good luck in your venture. I'm right there with you in the quest to make a cat dog. Buy the book "Bobcat Dog" by David Peightal. I think if you go back a couple pages on this forum you'll find ordering info for it. I'm not finished with it yet, but it certainly got me thinking alot differently.

I just want to wish you many more years of good health and luck in building a cat pack. Not really familiar with that part of the east coast, but you might have to consider a couple more dogs if the country is how I think it is to catch a cat with any consistency!
