Dog Box Advice
]I've been interested in trying to get a Dog Box that is more of a BigGame Style.
Rig Rack, Overhang for the Weather, Vents ect.
It's not going to be the Cheapest box out there, But I would like to hear your thoughts about prices you've paid for aluminum boxes.
Here is the proto Type of the box we are working on for a Double U Box. It will ship flat via UPS, and need to be Riveted and bolted together. It is very sturdy with the rivets but you could also have someone Weld the panels for added re-inforcement.
Some of the optional features
Strike or Rigging Rack to Rig dogs
Install a Divider or leave it open.
For the Vents you would have Three Options
Open Holes for boxing.
Vent Kit, Bolt on 6 sliding Vents
Or a deluxe Vent Kit so that you could easily install vents or have open holes with a 10 second change.
All these parts would probably be able to be sold separately, so that if you wanted to build a wooden box but needed a Strike Rack for example you could by the Strike rack by it's self. Or if you just want the Diamond plate top, or back door's Ect.
I haven't figure out Prices, It definitely won't be the Cheapest Box on the market But I want it to be reasonably priced.
If I had to guess the base price would be in the 1200 and probably up to 1500-1600 with all options.

Re: Dog Box Advice
Wow, that is a sharp looking box! I would say the price is about right too. I have priced aluminum and stainless both and it was going to be 2k or a little more. Personally, I would shorten up the overhangs a bit, but that is a dang nice design!
Once you go black, you'll never go back! Duncan big game Black and Tans.

Re: Dog Box Advice
i would venture to say that i would charge about 1000 to make a box like it, with graphics, fully tig welded 1/8 alum. with tube rack. divider and sides. if not welded... even less probably 700-800 ish.

Re: Dog Box Advice
just a thought, but the doors normally mount flush with seals around the top, also with no channel or crossbreak on the top, the top will bow and collect water after a few trips with 5-6 dogs up there,(had to make channels years ago for a guy after building one like that.)
p.s. i have also made 3 pc welded tube racks that ship 1"flat that you can bolt together.

Re: Dog Box Advice
Brian, I know you've said you could build them and you have the access to cut weld and make really nice boxes, but that you didn't have the time to do them for me as a production to re-sell them. I need to have someone that can produce them on a schedule.
If you want us to re-sell your box, we would need to see a design that would work for us and that we could easily duplicate and build. I don't really want to mess with Freight and trying to arrange to have them freight shipped. I need something that can be picked up by my UPS driver.
That's why we went with this type, I have it built to ship it flat so I can have them here and ship them out quickly via UPS. Building them box by Box would work for me, but I can't duplicate it.
Call me when you get the chance.

Re: Dog Box Advice
Way to enclosed for anyone in the southwest. Any plans on a more open style dog box, maybe one with integrated tool box or drawer?
Re: Dog Box Advice
Good basic design. I prefer flush doors as well.
Re: Dog Box Advice
2x2x1/8 alum angle with 1/4" galv bolts work great for joining pieces together or adding some reinforcment
