Not bad if you cook them rite, nothing near as good as cottontail. That's why I have only killed 3 in the last two years.

Dang, Budd, I thought sure when the hare saw you and put a spur in his track it would slow Gracie down. In fact, I half expected the track to disappear into thin air at that point. It would have if my culls had been in there. (when the game sees the hunter and goes into ghost mode). That was amazing work! You gotta be proud. Like you said that's why she makes the big bucks.

I have heard of packs you could "throw a blanket over". Never heard of one you could throw a bath towel over... Fun

Enjoyed the video Budd, looks like they are really tightening up on those road runners. I've noticed while rabbit hunting that when the rabbit comes down the road, sees you and turns into the woods at least one of the dogs will make the turn without making a lose, but if the rabbit stops and sits there for a spell when it sees you all the dogs loses it right there and they have to circle around and pick it up out in the woods. I think while the rabbit is sitting there it's scent disperses in all directions so when the dogs get to that spot they have hard time and have to circle out past where the scent disperses to pick it back up. I've seen this with all game that I've hunted but it's a lot easier to observe with beagles running rabbits. Have you noticed the same? My two beagles had been sitting in the pen for months till you started posting your videos, I've had them out three times now in the last couple of weeks and enjoyed some good running, Thanks for the inspiration!

al, we run them in oregon year round, i can say that the snowshoe that bud runs seem to be smarter, not sure if it has to do with the lack of hunting pressure out here or what, ours dont run the roads to much, but they make about the same size loops,we also have a ton of brush rabbits, they dont run as big of an area as snowshoes, but make for better races then cotton tails. we dont shoot them since the dogs can catch a few brush rabbits every now and then.(they dont ever catch the snoeshoes) brush rabbits taste like snow shoe, but when we go after cottontail... i bring the gun and get the crock-pot out!

I hope Cobalt chimes in here. He has a couple beagles, my mom has one... I've never had any real interest in using it any but man after these videos it sure makes me wanna try it out.... Might be darn good for kids and first time hunters.

Brian, I run at the same spot pretty much every time so you could say they are educated hare. Don't seem to run the roads in winter only on bare ground. I have seen it cause the hare to get caught also once the hounds catch onto what they are doing and can put enough pressure on them.
