He sure made a powerful mark, as one of the greatest most influential breeders on the West Coast, Ray Mears, spoke of Rennich blood with the same reverence, and was extremely proud of what he had preserved of the Rennich blood in his own dogs.catdog360 wrote:Al Rennick, remember dad talking a lot about his dogs. Was this young man in his teens, a little boy, or?Unreal_tk wrote: The whole kid deal went like this David.
Sure wish I could have met TY. I know he does have some stories because I have seen his camera work.

Varminator wrote:Yes David you missed it! We all had a good time talking hounds and hunts.
For me it started early, with J.C. bringing out a pair of Clay Hound pups that the Clays brought out for Jerry King (Beauties)!! Then Sonny and his long time hunting buddy Chuck stayed at my place and we talked and watched my Fell Hound videos for hours.
But the highlight for me is when Sonny Turner and Willis Sutton met again after coon hunting with Al Rennich 61yrs ago. Willis said I wasn't going to come, but now I'm glad I did. Thanks Tim O'Leary for picking him up! Sonny now 79 and Willis 96.
We missed you and your guitar .......Brad
I hadn't seen Willis since the late 70's and nice meeting Sonny Turner and Chuck......Very kind gesture of Tim O'Leary to bring Willis to the gathering and I will remember his last words to me as he exited...."Best day of my life"....How about that! This event has served to connect many of the old and new to the sport of Hounds....Good to see that old man out of California....I think he goes by Fall River Walkers? He is not too thought provoking any more....It is simply Bonjour amigo!
(That lingo covers the entire continent in the dog world!)
David, please cover those French hounds ears so they aren't subjected to this nonsense!
On a serious note....Mr Stuckey reports good stuff on that young dog you sent him! He said it is going to be the real deal Lion Hound! With any luck, I will hunt with that hound some day soon in Texas!
Thanks Brad - J.C. and family for the kindness!
Mike

A thank you to "All" that attended the Gathering. And a special thanks to the Clays for every thing you did to help. J.C. informed me that I missed you on your way back through. He had told me that you were looking for a place to lease out here and I have a place you may be interested in.
Mark- I enjoy reading your wit and your "Heart" is as big as the Sky and as tender as a yearling elk!
Mike- You are a true Bear Dog! You have kept barking when others have shut up. I tip my hat to you and who ever else that has been working, to get and keep our hunting rights.
Al & Dewey- Sorry we didn't get to talk! You both have written many times trying to help young hunters. Although it seems you have some disagreement, but all in all both of you are helping them if they pay attention.(some older hunters might ought to pay attention also). Al hit the shift key.
Jim- Bonjour!! Until we hunt next winter.
David- My pick-up is full and the dogs are fit !! Your welcome any time you can make it.

Thanks to all, enjoyed the gathering, Especially meeting Larry Beggs & Art Ragsdel. Two hunters I have heard nothing but good things about. Those were the best baked potatoes ever tasted. How did someone get them so perfectly sliced? Al

Mark just never could learn to like the taste of any alcohol, believe me, tried to, in my late teens. Doctors actually told me a couple light drinks in evening might help with circulation to my inner ear. But alcohol just don/t set well with my stomach, maybe it was caused by drinking some terrible home brew long time ago.mark wrote:There was baked potatoes there!? Al, my wife Judy and all the girls thank you "All" for your comments. They did work hard to help J.C. with the event. They washed, hand sliced, oiled and seasoned individually over 100 potatoes. Then baked and served. Anyway that's what she tells me. She said if you want the recipe for the seasoning you have to come again next year....Brad

Mr. Brad,
Your whole Family is delightful and HARD WORKING! Any little thing Mom or I could do to help we were so glad to do.
But folks should make NO Mistake.....this wonderful event is all thanks to the Vision of one individual.....Mr. J. C. Padgett!
Mark, did you get to try any of those GREAT Salads Mrs. Judy, JC's Sister and the Girls put together? WOW they were wonderful. Also how about those light and fluffy Biscuits with the homemade Sausage Gravy.....and to see the way JC handled frying all those Rooster Bullits........well to quote the TV commercial "Priceless" is the way I would describe all THREE meals we were served.
Thanks to all the folks who were so wonderfully supportive of the Gathering with their Bids on the many Auction items and buying the Raffle tickets......that kind of support will ensure that this will happen for many more years!
I look forward to Presenting "Master Bobcat Hunter Certificates" to more deserving Senior Bobcat Houndsmen.........please make your nominations early next year!
