starting pups with rabbits

I am thinking of using rabbits to start pups instead of coons. What draw backs are there to this? I can't really think of any. With coons they are easy to track and you have to wait till the pup is mentally prepare for what the coon will do if he catches him on the ground. My pups sometimes wait till a year old or better before they open on track.
