That is an awesome photo! Wow, you panned out a chunk of gold. The one laying down looks full hound, red, with white chest mark. Or mabe one of the Plott colors. Maybe even a touch of bloodhound. Probably track for track a little slow but with few if any pauses. The spotted dog looks short eared maybe even some bird dog blood. Probably a heads up hunter swinging and looking for the cat. If that is his combination I bet that cat is one of many, and his peers are wondering how in the world he does that all the time.
Yeah I just been looking into the history of dog hunting in tn and found it. Mostly fox and boar hunters. The interesting thing for me is the dogs. The seems like more mixed up cur/hound types then full blooded. One that shows up a lot is a black and tan or high tan Shepard or collie looking dog. Especially in pics from 1900/1930s.
Boy would I love to see those pictures. You are getting yourself an education. That was when folks depended on their dogs to keep the family fed. I am sure you are looking at some real game getters.
Yep!! "PR" Bred, all right. Been docked Texas style.. The Bear may be "Selecting" ??.
Big-On-Blue where are you?? In the late 60's my Father went to visit Elbert Vaughn in Ark. He had a "Black Lab Stud" breeding to make better swamp dogs. How dark are your Dogs?

If your coming, come on!!! "A Thousand mile journey, Starts with a single step".
These old time pictures are awesome! Amazing how they draw you in. I saw an old photo of my grandpa with his hounds and a shed wall full of coyotes and bobcats as a kid and was drawn into it just like these old pictures. I bet I spent more time looking at these 2 posted pictures than our wedding album!?!? Keep posting them if you have more, I would love to see them.
Found some good ones here. Have to search through them. I want to respect the rights to these pictures so I didn't upload them to tiny pic, etc. One on the first page is a bobcat with what looks like a border collie. Other good ones too.
Found this one looking through old pictures at my grandparent's house. It's one of my great grandfather and his dog near the Fayetteville, WV area. Looks like a walker to me. Any other guesses?
