average hound
average hound
I would like to hear what the average hound is like in the different regions. Build size breed traits voice style . Maybe pics of your closest average. I believe hounds seem to be getting much smaller less voice etc. But occasionally different areas have drastic differences .

Re: average hound
The average hound in my area is pretty much the average I have seeen in any other area. 4 legs most of the time, two eyes some of the time, long tail some of the time but short tail become more common or average if you will. The hounds I have seen in this area range between 30 and 110 pounds. some have papers some don't ,some fetch the paper some don't, some go on the paper and some don't.
Oh my I just desribed my own hounds, well I guess my hounds are pretty average.......LOL!

Re: average hound
perhaps that is average. most folks don't brag up their average pups but they still tend to make up the bulk of the back otherwise they'd be all stars. after just spending a great deal of time on the road i was surprised at the sheer number of forty lb hounds out there. not saying theres anything wrong with them just wondering at the trend.

Re: average hound
I'll step out on a limb here....
The average hound in my area from my observance is......
1) a bluetic/walker cross of some nature.
2) 50-70 pounds
3) bawl mouth on track and chop on tree.
4) more prone to false tree than to miss a tree.
5) full tailed.
Just what I would call the "average" hound that I've been around in my short time frame of hunting.
