dog hauler
Re: dog hauler
Guys like that need taken out behind the barn and culled. hopefully he has the chance to receive the same treatment some day.
Re: dog hauler
I've heard lots of horror stories about that outfit, but I have to wonder who ships unweaned puppies with their mom in the same crate??
Re: dog hauler
I do accept some blame for the pups because it did go against my better judgement but me and the shipper discussed it and he was told that they have whelping boxes and have had litters born in route from time to time without any issues. also they were going home for a break and I was in direct route was going to be a short trip. however when chuck met me he was pretty humbled and said he was sorry about the pups and he said he fu??ed up and over booked the trip.he also said he was against hauling the pups but was told I wanted them. so I know the shipper well and the dog and pups were a gift along with shipping to me . I was not pushy or demanding in any way and neither was the shipper. in chucks defense, the female is a picky eater and don't gobbler her food so the time frame she had to eat was not enough. I will never ship young pups again for sure but still hold the condition of the female against the person who's care she was in. I have had bitches loose litters before and have never seen one get that poor because of it. so in the end I own some blame for my stupidity I guess and I say that.
no mater if you think you can or you think you cant,, you are probably rite.

Old Dog, when the Days went by I thought of every type scenario that could have happened and they are "Many".
This was an eye opener for me and convinced me to "Never" be a Dog Hauler !!!!!! Good luck in the future...

Old dog wrote:I put off posting this picture because I didn't want to completely ruin this guy's livelihood. but then I sure would hate to see anyone else go thru this.chuck with redwing dog haulers picked up this dog and two pups in good health in ten .they were supposed to be at my house in 6 days. he also picked up another dog at the same time to be delivered in the Dakotas for a friend. my friends dog was way late and he said the guy held himup for three days .he had to have somebody at wall mart at 1030 am or chuck said he would keep his dog. the kid is working on a pipeline out of state so he had his girlfriend wait till she had too go to work then his dad waited then his mom waited all this time chuck would not answer his phone when he did answer after all this, he said he was going to be three more days. the dog got there very skinny according to the kid.it went the same way hen he did show up . my dog was on the trip for 13 days and both pups died on the way. same story , would not return calls or answer his phone. he said the female killed the pups that morning and that they were fine the day before. maybe so but I do know the dog was completely dry and didn't urinate or shit for the first two days I had her. I know this because I kept her in the house. I have a hunch that he starved the pups by not caring for the mother? on a good note, she is doing fine and fitting in nicely around here....my name is skip chamberlain and I DO NOT RECOMEND REDWING DOG HAULERS. personally, I don't think this guy is fit to haul a dog across the parking lot.
I for one am glad you posted this... people need to know if they are thinking about using a dog hauler. I just hope redwing learns from this and either stops hauling all together or rethinks how he does business.
I have never used a hauler but had thought about it. Priced them a bit, but it always looked like a hassle getting things to line up, and was more expensive than shipping by air. I have had a few dogs shipped by air and that worked out great and it was on average $100 cheaper than the dog haulers I checked out... Some breeders are not willing to ship by air for some reason, maybe more of a hassle on their end than a hauler? The dog usually only takes one day of travel time, two at most, so its much easier on the dog... might be worth offering the $100 difference to get the breeder to ship by air.
Re: dog hauler
I had a very similar experience with this guy. 21 days to get my pups, that he told me would be here in seven. No phone calls for updates, and it was very hard to get a hold of him. When I finally did, he bitched me out and said he would take the dogs back to the breeder. A quick phone call to the breeder, and Chuck decided he would go ahead and deliver my pups. The pups were not in the best of health when i got them, but were not starved down. 7 months later one of the pups is dead, and the other is an absolute head case! Dont know if either scenario is caused by this trauma, but it surely could not have helped! After all of the issues I had with Chuck, I googled Red Wing Hound Haulers, very interesting to see, a lot of people shared the same experience. This guy is a broken down old man who appears to be in his 80's ( which has probably kept him from getting his ass kicked on numerous occasions)
P.S.
Im sorry for the loss of your pups.

Re: dog hauler
tim one of the things he said that really got to me was when I asked why he didn't answer his calls he said he didn't have time to talk on the phone with all the time it takes to care for the dogs!! one of the kemmer guys told me chuck called one of the breeders out of the clear blue and asked himif he wanted to buy two kemmer pups....wonder if somebody was a little late getting to wall mart??
