Old dog and pegleg you both make some excellent points. You both should run for office in some capacity. That is what we need. No disrespect meant to verminator. i believe in Wisdom of the Ages and I believe there is a lot to be learned by "old timers" both good and bad. Hell I would rather hang around a lot of older folks anyway. So many younger people now get so distracted by texting or facebooking while you try to have a conversation with them. I can't stand it.
The way I see it is like this. For a lot of the population that is say 50-60years old on up, there was very large threats from an "axis of evil" so to speak wether it was the Russians, The Japanese, Koreans, Germans, Communism... So they have a different way of thinking about "terrorism" and how we respond to radical islamic threats. They just simply aren't the threat that they are made out to be. Furthermore, they have made it very clear that our constant meddling in their affairs is why they hate us. Our "interest" in most of the countries IS tied to money, resources or power and the associated businesses and people that make money off of them.
What the crazies do to the innocents that they kill is unbelievable but we cannot continue to police the world on the dime of the unborn US citizen. It weakens the US in the long run. And it is very immoral to do so. You wouldn't take out credit cards in your newborn's name to buy stuff with would you? We were not founded to be the policeman of the world, period. Fair trade with all, foreign entanglements with none.
We can't free or change regimes/people by bombing the snot out of them, sanctioning them or starving them. They have to want it themselves. Some farmers did it a long time ago and beat the largest military in the world(with a little help from France) and laid the foundation in which we built a nice house that got remodelled into an out-house since 1913.

Oh my. What a discussion and a lot of prep time to prove the other guy wrong which will never change anyones mind. Although I love my country, my freedom, and my way of life... It is fact that people are fallible, greedy, dishonest, evil and the list goes on. It appears that politicians are all of these things, maybe they are. The important fact is that by arguing back in forth about your beliefs you are in no way doing anything constructive unless you find ego-stroking constructive. You will not change anyone's mind by articles or so-called facts. You will however keep from doing good things like helping your neighbor who could use a hand without having to ask, or giving some time for someone in need who could just use a good conversation. Boarhunter, wow man, I'm speechless. I litterally have no words for what you got going. But your intent is crystal clear and I hope one day you can see past the ideas that somehow got in your head. Yes I support my country. I am grateful for the opportunity to be here and set a good example for those around me who I care about. This life is full of great opportunities waiting to be ACTED upon,(not talked about) and it is easy to get sucked into these negative discussions of our worlds problems. It will only make us angry and distract us from the important things. Again, I love my country and my fellow hunters, even though our government, media entities and many others try to unravel it by doing the best they can to deceive its people. The good news is that there are many more good hearted people with good values to instill in their offspring by their ACTIONS. Time spent that will actually make a difference.
