Oregon, Texas, Florida, and Maine. The dog that does the best overall in the four locations. Wow.

David, Do you think a northern cat dog has a chance of catching a cat in the south? Texas,Florida and Oklahoma are pretty rough . Seen good cat dogs from there do nothing up here and can smoke one down there . I would think a Maine cat dog would do good in Oregon tho. Really enjoyed your book that C Clay gave me!

Ridgerunners, you are asking the last big question about bobcat hunting in North America. I have heard top bobcat hunters from every region say a bobcat dog is a bobcat dog anywhere you put it. Now we can find out because it sounds like JC is starting in on a world championship.

I think it's awesome and exciting. And I think it will be a fun and lasting memeory for amyone who can do it, no matter the weather or the outcome. Would sure like to see some of the younger guys enter. C'mon guys, it will give you a good goal, put you in the company of some great and helpful people, and give you a fun story and memory. JUST DO IT. it's cheap fun if you live within a state or two. There is only one first place winner. If it is not you, so what? You will still be one in a group of great hunters, great people, potentially great friends, and most of them did not win.

4 days. Shawn, you and Jake and Ty and TK need to lead the way for the young men to get in this thing. As you know, conditions could easily have more to say about who wins than the dogs will have to say. I have hunted with dogs in a few regions that were top dogs in their region and I have seen them ALL get completely skunked by conditions. Don't worry that your dog might make a bad showing on that day. The best dog that ever lived has made a bad showing on certain days. Pick a day and hope for ideal conditions. If you get them, you could easily be the winner.(and that would be a very good thing for our sport). If you don't get ideal conditions, you won't be the only one that didn't.

I don't know what it would take but I hope somebody makes a good video of this so we can see it. I would pay money for one. I'd love to see the dogs in action and even how the handlers are handling the dogs. For all of us that wonder how you guys are putting good numbers up it would maybe help us to see what we're doing wrong.

It appears to me that they are not being judged. The hunt is based on who trees the most bobcats. None get to compete on the same day, time or a run of, no one to judge how the dog really did. I think the bobcat hunt is a great idea and I don't have a clue as to how to make it a hunt to really show a world champion bobcat dog. It sounds like a lot of fun thought. Dewey

This coming winter I will be holding a cat dog contest.
rules ;
1. One dog hunted at a time .
2. there will be witnesses/ judges on the hunt . must see the cat in the tree or caught on the ground.
3. the hunt will start at 6 pm on a Friday night . and end at 2pm on sunday. There will be a mandatory 12 hours of not hunting during this period. for rest of the dog. And hunters that don't hunt at night.
4. I have 3 locations to hunt and that is the only places u are allowed to go. The judges will be your guide.
5. Each dog will cost an entry fee of 100.00 . Winner takes all.
6.All entry fees will need to be in before nov. 20th. 2014.
7. The competition will start the opening weekend and end the second to last weekend of cat season.
8.Who ever catches the most cats in the allowed time will be the winner. IN case of a tie we will have a hunt off the last weekend of season . if they tie again the winnings will be split.
9. If there are more dogs entered than there are weekends available then there will be 2 sets of hunters hunting the same weekend. The 3 areas are big enough for that. The judges will make sure the hunts are not at the same location at the same time.
10. There will be no harvesting of any cats unless they are caught on the ground. absolutely no rerunning a cat u left in a tree.
11. if there are more than 1 cat in the same tree it only counts as 1 cat.
this is for fun and for serious bragging rights . So lets put your money where your mouth is.
if something comes up that needs addressed mark Armstrong will have the final say in the matter.

It's raining so hard the TV at the tavern won't even show the picture. I'm waiting for it to stop before I go out.

The cats are feeding on frogs tonite.

The feed is there, its wet as can be. Cover some ground and a guy mite see one in the road tonite. Mr, Tom mite have a full belly of frogs with any luck.
