Postby dpetty » Wed Jan 14, 2015 5:12 pm

This is the first year I have hunted them on coon I always start squirrel hunting them and then switch to coon hunting the next year. We have had some good hunts but lately the weather has been pretty cold. Great thing is cold weather I still squirrel hunt and if it warms up coon hunt them at night.
A couple good nights

My daughter with a dandy we killed

Couple on a short hunt.

Daytime tree it was squirrel hunt in minus 20 degrees and Ivan had the meat

I like the way them Laikas are built, never seen one in action and must if the pics you see they are real thick deep gutted kinda dogs, I like the way those are athletic.

We had a warm spell and I went out to see if we could kill a few before season is over. Ivan did a real nice job last night. I had him out for a short squirrel hunt for 15 minutes and he treed two trees with three squirrels between them all. I knocked one out and left the rest for seed.

Coon hunting was fast and furious for about two hours. I treed each single coon and knocked out some nice boar coon. I did get one nice small eater coon so I can try out the sausage recipe a guy talked about. I will give the results of the sausage when I get it finished! The video I posted the coon was a big boar Ivan smoked him up a sapling and that dude was about to jump out. I got a couple quick shots and winged him but that coon was fighting mad. Most of the blood on Ivan was the coon blood from the head shot ones. My Marauder has a seal I am replacing I am missing that thing these 22 shells sure do make them bleed more than the pellet gun. I pick up Kilbe this weekend and take my dad's little female back. I poured the squirrels to her and she is a real nice dog.

They do not open on track. Only if it is sight chase or baying large game.
