Hello all.
I'm on the market for a new tracking collar.
I have never used one before, as I typically track my dogs the old fashioned way.
Seeing as I'm planning on doing some guiding next season I need to speed up the recovery of dog process.haha.
It's my understanding that the regular gps collars may not be used in alberta.
Therefore I am on the search for a telemetry system.
I know very little about how these work. So any insight or recommendations on brands ect would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks ladies and gentlemen.

I always found that telemetry collars with changeable batteries were a plus, because you can replace batteries as often as you like without sending them in. Those sealed units are great when new, but after any length of time you never know how much they have left. Changeable also tend to be lighter as well.
I have 5 Wildlife changeable collars in 217 with a QuickTrack receiver mounted to a folding three element with case. All in great shape and working order.
Would make you a great deal if this would help you.
Best of luck to you, hope you get a good system.

I appreciate the generous offers guys, however at this point I'm still trying to research brands and figure some more details out before I shell out big bucks.

I like the marshall lighted collars best and then wildlife materials 3190/3280 magnum both have good range but the marshall uses standard AA batteries ,as for receiver i like the marshall and the wm trx 3 with mini antenna for short range and have a yagi i leave in the truck if i need long range. Another good thing about the marshall collars is if you find a good deal on a used one you can have the frequency changed to match your reciever
