There are a couple things to try......
1) Disconnect the battery for a while.
2) plug it in to the computer and see if it recognizes it. If it does, try to install the software again. If it does not recognize it, your probably gonna have to get it replaced.
Sorry for not having a good answer, but I personally haven't had this happen to mine.

I just had one do the same thing to me for the first time a week or so ago. I had been using it, then went to turn it off and it froze with the red light... I was gonna open it up and unhook battery, but someone told me to hold it down for like 30 seconds. I did and it worked. It froze up a couple more times after I got it unstuck, cause I'd turn it off then on again to see if it was working right. Then I let it sit and now it works fine again, and hasn't done it again thus far.

Don't disconnect the battery on the 50 collars Garmin made the reset option by holding the pwr button for 20 or 30 seconds they don't want us disconnecting the battery if at all possible
Did you buy the collar from us I would be interested to talk with any of my customers that has this happen often. I've only seen it happen once to mine

I just recently had the same issue with one of my collars so I called Garmin they had me plug it into the computer and upgrade my collar I have not had the problem sinceI hope that helps

hi guys my d50 collars keeps freezing yellow light stays solid after about a 1 min of been on picks up on astro then drops off have tryed update and reset now wont even turn light on when charging all i had with these dc50s is problems
