bobcat training scent
I know that grawes is the best training scent out there, but it seems that is has become unavailable. Is there another brand that is as good quality and effectiveness as grawes?

Dennis Heck makes a pretty good one too. Would be my next choice. He's around Boise. I think it's Rocky Mountain Fur and Fireworks. It's in a liquid.

I see Double U has a new bobcat gland scent. I have not had the chance to try it but it could be good!

Don't waist your money on any! Might as well drag around your wifes dish towel. Andy

I dont understand, how does a dish towel get the scent in a young hounds mind? I realize that most commercial grade training scents are made up of either synthetic or authentic urine combinations, which does not in fact relate to the actual scent the dog will be smelling when hunting, but i wonder how no scent will work throughout a dogs training? I myself am new to hound hunting, but i just wondered. Thanks

Twist does color or if there is a design on the towel effect how the dog will trail? Or do you prefer just a plain old white one

Re: bobcat training scent
Cronks was mostly urine smell. Not sure if it still is. Grawes is all glands. Hecks is mostly gland I believe. I have used Cronks and the dogs trailed it. I haven't tried Double U. Maybe I have and didn't know it.

Here is a fun little experiment to try. Get the neighbor kid to piss in a bottle and then pour some on a towel or anything else that will absorb it. Then work your pup on it for as long as it keeps you entertained and then have the same neighbor kid walk down the road for aways and then take your pup out and see if it will trail the neighbor kid up.

Re: bobcat training scent
Why is it that most training scent companies use urine? Is it cheaper? How would it even help the dog learn the smell? You had a good point about the neighbor kid test! haha

Re: bobcat training scent
Scent's can be help full, But you need to understand that most scents don't smell anything like the real thing. I started a Blue tick with Grawes scent and she is one of my best dogs. With most scents all your doing is teaching that dog to trail that smell. Buying real piss can be used to help dogs start to strike from the rig.
