Pre hunt/after hunt food?
Pre hunt/after hunt food?
During hard hunting do you guys have any food mixtures you make up for energy before a hunt or after for recovery?

Trail mix or power bars during and after peanut butter and jelly sandwich is a good source of proteins and energy source

When I am hunting hard I feed twice a day. I feed about 1/2 of what I feed at night 1 or 2 hours before I plan to hunt. With a lot of cooked meat with good quality dog food. In real cold weather they may need a third meal during the day. Hunting hard for me is 5 to 7 days a week 12 to 16 hours in the woods. Dewey

add eggs to their feed, most protein in a small package. i feed hard boiled and raw eggs during hunting season, 2 eggs a day with dry kibble. also do the same for females with pups.

I tried Dewy's recommendation, three times a day but I just couldn't quite take all that dry dog food with my burger. So I made meatloaf with my Diamond kibble. Now you are saying that this topic is for the DOGS!!

I feed the mutts to diamond brand high protein mutt food and if I have one that seems to be losingto much weight or losing energy I get some canned food from the vet.
