Nolte, with that Bullet dog, 2 or 3 bears in a morning was commonplace. Now, we had some pretty decent dogs running with him too of course.I had 6 dogs then and would alternate taking 2 different ones every day. When kill season came I still caught a decent number of bears with just my own pack so there had top be something in them too !! Other guys would come down to run and they would have a dog or 2 with them also, usually some pretty decent stuff too.

Our training season started here on July 15 and ran till August 31 Kill season started 2d week of Sept till the end of Oct. Lots of times we were running nuisance bears before the training season opened though.

Well it looks like I was wrong on the seasons. By now I'm getting used to being wrong though. :D

From the sounds of it, it sure would have been a pleasure hunting with that Bullet Dog. I've always thought it would be neat if it would have been possible to hunt a few of those great dogs from different times together at once. I think the bear would be better off just coming to the road and surrendering.

Maybe I should name a dog Bullet. I know of two other dogs from guys around here that had dandy dogs named Bullet. But I'd hate to the one that jinxed the name. :D

I will be honest with you Nolte. I have hunted with many dogs that were probably more fun to hunt with than Bullet. Just none that were any better at treeing bears. He could be awfully quiet at times(I didnt say silent ,just quiet !! ) I have seen him many times strike from the rig with a so so strike. Put him down, and away he went. A hundred yards or so in and one bark, next bark a half mile out, next bark a mile in and treed. He was just a bear catching machine. Other times he would be wide open the whole way.I like treeing bears but I really like listening to the whole race too.A good open mouth cold trailer is my favorite type.Thats what I call fun !!!

A good post subject might be " whats the most fun dog you have hunted with ? "

Travis, I'm having a tough time grasping on to this number, unless the dog got hunted in other states than WI. We've only got 92 possible days to hunt, and you are averaging treeing 2+ bear every day rain/shine, heat/humidity. Not to mention being able to have a kill tag with every day of the 30 day kill season.

I'm not trying to start an argument, just a bit skeptical. In any case the dogs sounds like a dandy, and one that would surely be worth watching go.
Andy hunts every day rain or shine heat or humidty. His buddies all have to tag team to keep up with him.And anyone is welcome to go hunt with him.I went and he was pissed we weren't treeing four bear a day. After going and seeing what an animal him and his dogs are,I'm completely honored that he has chosen to breed Lady to my stud dog.I and my wife were skeptical too but after hunting with him and talking to his buddies I'm a believer now.You can pm me for his number or its on my stud dog ad on the classifieds on here. His buddies told me in the last four or five years there has only been like ten days that it was legal to hunt bear that he hasn't had his dogs in the woods.
The reason I hunt this blood is a quote a friend gave me,"Your either making dust or your eating it."
