Re: Jumping out bobcats
Behaving and communicating in ways that is condescending to others while over elevating your self is not a good path for making friends and gaining respect among your peers. Kind of reminds me of old Ike. I'm sure you remember him. He was a very accomplished houndsman with a fine pack of dogs, problem was, he never let anyone forget it for a second. His ability to stroke his own ego was unrivaled and for that reason he didn't gain a whole lot of respect in the internet hound world. It's too bad because he was very good at what he does and had lots of good information to share but his lack of good social etiquette got in the way.--- from trueblue
trueblue,
That is so very true! The old Shadetree will never be equaled I don't think as for the characters on there. Ike versus the world ! Sometimes it even got to the point I felt a teensy bit sorry for Ol Ike when he was getting double teamed by Dawg and Nolte. Then let someone mention an Airedale to Bruce and it went to an entirely different plane. Don't mean to change the topic but when you mentioned Ike I couldn't help but think back. I am sure Dewey is a very knowledgeable houndsman and thanks to you guys for sticking up for his good points.

Actually if we all were heroes we might all have hearing problems because the applause would be deafening. All my heroes have been a powerful source of help and encouragement to those around them. If you think you can't compete with my heroes, go to them, they will help you and encourage you and teach you and nurture you until you can. And if you are still not sure if he's a hero stay at his place for the winter and observe the young men who grew up in his neighborhood and keep showing up at his place. You will see the profound effect he had on their lives and on their families.mark wrote:Well, if we were all heroes there wouldnt be anyone to clap when we walked by. Lmao
If you want to find a hero, check with the young people and the old people in his neighborhood.
Hey, now that I mention it, I can think of a few heroes of mine. One of them let me stay at his place for free and hunt last winter and drew me maps to all his favorite places to hunt bobcats. If He was going to this one, I would go to that one. And he keeps asking me if I am coming back again this winter.
And another hero of mine loaned me a top dog to help me get re-started.
Another, later, gave me a place to stay, all his hunting spots, all his best hunting buddies, who each offered their homes and their help, and more good dogs to use than I could fit in a stock trailer.
No, I think if we all were heroes, there would be plenty of people to clap when we walk by.

I think you got a little too excited there David. You pointed out a single, solitary character quirk and I briefly elaborated on it suggesting it might be a flaw not a quirk. My brief comments hardly qualify as a character assassination.
Re: Jumping out bobcats
Funny how we take the words of someone on here and turn them around, ain't it, Trueblue.

Re: Jumping out bobcats
One thing I have learned over the years David, is if you want to see what someone is made of, just watch and see what comes out when they are offended. And you never fail to come out swinging.

Another non-character attack, I'm sure.Trueblue wrote:One thing I have learned over the years David, is if you want to see what someone is made of, just watch and see what comes out when they are offended. And you never fail to come out swinging.
If you check back I come out swinging for my friends and for young men on here that are treated harshly. I would do the same for you if you were either.
And I would say yes, you are right. There is a difference between wrong and right, and wrong is offensive to me, especially when I myself am wrong. When a man who I know to be honorable is treated as though he is not, that is wrong to me, and therefore I am offended by it, and I will fight for his honor. (Even if his name is Ike and he does not meet your social media communication standards). If a young man who I know to be bright is treated as though he is not, that is wrong to me, I am therefore offended by it, and I will fight for his honor.
I was made to fight for what I think is right. I will not walk away when it comes time to die for that. And when that time comes, you will be glad we are on the same side.
Re: Jumping out bobcats
No need to become overwrought. I'm sure Dewey is a great guy with many fine qualities that could be characterized as honorable. I don't believe anyone, including myself has ever questioned his honor. The only thing that I suggested was that his social skills could use a little refining. There is no need for you to imply things that never came out of my mouth. Same goes for Ike. I complimented him. I think he is a fine houndsman. I bet he has many admirable and honorable traits and I am sure that there are those out there that know him that respect him for that, BUT, his social skills on a public forum really hampered his ability to be heard. Does that make him a bad person ? Absolutely not ! Does that flaw render him dishonorable ? Hardly ! And for you to imply that is what I said, is not true.
Re: Jumping out bobcats
Before social media there were people who offended others by being braggarts and full of themselves. Back then you either stayed and listened to them or just walked away or hung the phone up on them. Social media makes it real easy. If you find someone that offends you and insults your intelligence just DONT READ THEIR EFFING POSTS!!!!!!!!! Its real simple
Re: Jumping out bobcats
For you to imply that these top houndsmen should work on their social skills so they could fit in better on social media is a total dis-connect for me.Trueblue wrote:No need to become overwrought. I really can not even wrap my head around that kind of presumption. I mean now you really got me curious about where you live and the top houndsmen you have encountered in your life.
I would really like to visit that land and those people because this is entirely outside of my experience. YOU want THEM to adjust everything they are to fit better on social media so you can put your pan in and scoop up pure gold for nothing???!!
If we can not get past the gravel, we don't deserve the gold.
Honestly I'm in a state of shock. Give me some time to process this.
