Hosea 4:6 says "My people are destroyed because of lack of knowledge"

As we have watched our Nation being destroyed, i.e. "Fundamentally transformed", I have realized it could only have happened to a people that has been dumbed down as we have. This has come by a number of forces including a very selective "progressive" media and public school system. Stuff we all should know, none of us know. And stuff that is meaningless and nothing but a distraction from what matters, we all know very well.

There is a free online course given by Hillsdale College called "Constitution 101". Of course, they appreciate donations, but do not charge for the course.( onlinecourses@hillsdale.edu )

If any one wants to join me I could use the company. I know that being great again can not be accomplished by any one man. We all need to educate ourselves as to what made us great in the first place so we can recognize when a force is moving us away from those ideas and principles, and stand up and refuse to be moved. This is what the revolutionary war was fought over; and it was men who had great knowledge and understanding that fought with enough passion to beat the most powerful force on earth and win freedom for us. If we arm ourselves with that knowledge, we can do it again. Without that knowledge "...My people perish..."

David,
My son just received his certificate for the first class he took on-line, sadly they no longer teach some of these important lessons in school. It was fun and he enjoyed the on-line class and I would recomend the course to anyone.

JTG, wow is that ever cool. Thank you as that encourages me. I hope it encourages some one else to do it with me.


I think Mikes post and others on that thread begin to get at the heart of why we do what we do.

This stuff from Aristotle has been hard for me because it is translated from Greek and I am guessing who ever translated it did not live in the USA. Because, once I struggle with it enough to understand it I am thinking I never would have translated that thought in that way. It needs to be translated again for us.

But it is quite remarkable if you care to plow through it.

The point that struck me is that most of what we do, we do on the way to something higher. There are only a very few things we do or obtain that are a complete and final goal. And of those few things, the most complete of them is happiness.

I think it fits well with Mikes post and other great posts on that thread. It might help us to eliminate things in our lives (and in our hunting decisions) that have nothing to do with that most complete goal.

The following is all quoted from my Hillsdale course work at the website mentioned in the first post:



Nicomachean Ethics
Aristotle (384–322 b.c.)
Written in the tradition of Aristotle’s teacher, Plato—and of Plato’s teacher, Socrates—the Nicomachean Ethics addresses the question, “What is the best life for man?” An extended reflection on virtue, happiness, and friendship, it helped to inform the moral and political thought of America’s Founders. There are echoes of it, for instance, in President George Washington’s First Inaugural Address, when he states “that there exists in the economy and course of nature, an indissoluble union between virtue and happiness.”





"Now since the ends seem to be more than one, while we choose some of them
 on account of something else, such as wealth, flutes, and tools generally, it is clear that they are not all complete, but it is manifest that the highest good is something complete. So if there is some one thing alone that is complete, this would be what is being sought, but if there are more than one of them, it would be the most complete of these. And we say that a thing that is pursued on account of itself is more complete than a thing pursued on account of something else, and that what is never chosen on account of anything else is more complete than things chosen both for themselves and on account of something else, and hence that, in an unqualified sense, the complete is what is chosen always for itself and never on account of anything else. But no one chooses happiness for the sake of these things, nor for the sake of anything else at all."

"What’s more, we suppose happiness to be the most choiceworthy of all things while not counting it as one of those things, since if it were counted among them it is clear that it would be more choiceworthy together with the tiniest amount of additional good, for the thing added becomes a preeminence of good, and of good things, the greater is always more worthy of choice. So happiness appears to be something complete and self-sufficient, and is, therefore, the end of actions."

I think about the differences between generations and time periods. as a father I see things I would like to teach my children and things I hope they don't pick up. The foresight and knowledge shown by our founders is hard earned and only by certain hardships in ones life is it possible for these things to have the depth of meaning to a person as they did to those men. That type of knowledge is very difficult to pass on through the generations. If the lessons are learned well enough by one generation they often put in motion social or other changes that preclude the next generation from having those experiences to endure and learn from.
Its a sad thing but while some people are capable of absorbing some things from various sources besides experience most can't truely appreciate the cost or impact learning that knowledge had on the previous generation.
A prime example is the age of "adulthood" in centuries past early teenage years were the true age of accountability and responsibility. Not just spiritually but often in everyday life and as heads of household's or state. But by sheltering all of our youth to progressively higher ages from many experiences the learning that comes is delayed.
As a bystander its not hard to point out but as a parent we all try and protect our children from many of these experiences. With good reason but also some social cost.
But at some point we have to let the experiences occur. Granted 12-14 year old parents will have a head start in raising children as 18 year olds but its not worth the many other cost for that knowledge. Work ethic could be taught earlier then it is with none of the faults of child labor. But how serious is anyone about work if all their base needs and many wants are met in some other manner?

Something worth pointing out is happiness as used above is more closely translated as fullfilled.

How come the philosophers seem to live in the Southwest? I could feel it creeping in on me when I was there for a few days year ago.

You are right pegleg, and our children are about to get some learning opportunities we never had. If things don't turn around quickly they will watch people be killed for their faith in Jesus. I wish I could have prepaired my own children for what is coming... I failed miserably.

There are more Christians being killed in the last few years than at any time in history. The dam has a leak and the first few American Christians have died in their home land. Obamas #1 objective is to pay-back White male American Christians. That is the only explanation that clearly explains his otherwise irrational behavior. And I think the next few months might make the last seven years look like graham crackers and milk.

Back to school.

I am afraid to say that the only thing that would turn things around at this point, is something very bad would have to happen.
At one point, Christians would work the fields with a sword. It is regrettable that weapons must sometimes be used, but occasionally survival depends on it. We must fight at all cost to protect our rights bear arms.

I feel there might be a different outcome, if they tried to kill a bunch of Christians in America. Not to say, Christians should have not been protected anywhere in the world.

Awesome stuff! God does not just watch over Christians, He watches over All, and in all. Some may not yet except this but ultimately all will.
The Great I Am that I Am, breathed His breath into everything, Christian, Muslim, Jew, atheist, agnostic, black white yellow , red, and all creation vibrates with His energy.

We always think we have so much more to learn and that is why life is so hard at times. If you ever hold a newborn baby in your arms and look into that face you will see the Divine as clear as you can ever see it on the earth. We all started there...so I don't think it is so much about learning as it is remembering. We allow too many things cloud our memory of what we really are.

If you boil all emotions down to their base you will find in truth only two emotions. Love and fear, and these drive all the great and beautiful and wonderful as well as the painful, hateful and terrible things that humans are capable of.

A very wise old Shaman told me once. Let you gut be your guide for therein lies the conscious of God and Man together. If it feels loving and right you can't go wrong, but if it cripples irritates and nags and harms you are thinking too much with the head and not the heart.

Have a great weekend all and get out there and do something you love, because at the end of the day it's all about FUN!!!

As I reading what Aristotle wrote I was thinking that oh, you're almost there...you're getting closer...you're getting it then AAWWW, you missed it.

I would like to bring up a few things about what he said and give my thoughts on them.

Something worthy of pursuit is complete lacking nothing.

"the complete is what is chosen always for itself and never on account of anything else. And happiness seems to be of this sort most of all, since we choose this always on account of itself and never on account of anything else,"
Here is the Webster definition of happiness.
:the state of being happy
:an experience that makes you happy
Happiness is based on what is happening, an experience, a state of being and those things are ever changing and therefore happiness not complete. If your only sense of well being is derived from what is happening you will be sorely disappointed leading and up and down rollercoaster type of life.

That is a very true statement, unless, it is referring to something such as happiness that is not complete. But, on the other hand, joy can be complete and is not based on circumstances. Knowing that joy can be complete, it is not complete in and of itself so is not worthy of pursuit.
What is worthy of pursuit is the source of joy. When that is done, joy and the happiness that goes along with it, is a byproduct of that pursuit.
What then is that source?
Jesus said in John 15:11, "I have told you this so that MY joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

The joy I am talking about is there for the asking. If you pursue God, the source of all things good, you will get it.

Those of us who pursue God know He is no longer politically correct in America and the persecution of Christians has just begun.
I want my grandsons to believe in and know Christ but i fear for them and what they'll face in the future.I told my oldest grandson(8) that there are people who hate God but he can't understand that yet.
God wants us to share the gospel because there is no believing without hearing His Word !
That's not something i really want to do but at the same time i feel compelled to do it .
I guess my grandsons will get to hear their granddad preach because no matter what happens in the future i want them to be prepared for eternity .

I just read Dr. Arnns book Churchills Trial. . Great book. He is with Hillsdale college. One of the best books out there on founding fathers ideas is by Mark Levin, Ameritopia. A hard read but we'll worth the time. I learned a lot in the Churchills Trial.
