BIGFOOT
BIGFOOT
Was texting a fellow site member last nite to ask, jokingly, if he had ever seen Bigfoot on the west coast. Had just watched a documentary on Bigfoot on Netflix, said that there had been siting in all states besides hawaii. So my question to you all, have you ever had a Bigfoot experience or have family/friends with experiences? No one spends more time in the woods than us as a whole.... what y'all seen? I've never seen anything to make me believe one exists, I'm in Va. My buddy in Pennsylvania had a story where his dad, who I know as well, went outside after the snow and found his tracks in backyard and could smell foul stench. He talked to neighbors who admitted to having seen the Bigfoot but wouldn't tell others for fear of ridicule. Anybody got anything like that happen?

Re: BIGFOOT
Read Steve Matthes book,he tells how the Bigfoot legend got started. He made good money looking for an imaginary creature and he explained to the man that hired him what happened at that logging site.

Re: BIGFOOT
We evidently have quite a bunch of them in this area, or maybe they just get around a lot. Every year or so we have people who come forward and say they have seen one here or there and one guy said he saw a pair of them together. Now some of them claim to have photos but for some reason they always get lost or deleted and there goes their evidence. Funny thing is most of the people who see them always see a lot of other rare things out there as well. black mountain lions, wolves the size of Shetland ponies , grizzly bears and a whole smorgasbord of other abnormal things.
I am skeptical because in all my years of being in the bush I have seen very little that was out of the ordinary, but I must admit that twice both times in the presence of another person I saw a huge bird that we could not identify. In both cases we were quite close to the bird and it was obviously some sort of a bird of prey or buzzard in flight. Local Native Americans told us that in their lore the Thunder Bird is a common story. We both independently wrote down the description of the bird and showed it to a friend who is a well respected Zoologist and Researcher that has traveled a great deal all over the world. Now I don't know what a South American condor would be doing in northern New Mexico but when he showed us photos of the bird we agreed that is what we saw.
So I guess you can't rule anything out still I would think with some of the large rewards that have been posted for a captured or harvested Yeti we would see more hard evidence.

I've always been skeptical if it's real, need I g to see evidence to prove it but I never rule anything out the realm of possibilities. Pretty neat story about the Condor Mike

Re: BIGFOOT
Had a guy locally a few years back that saw one on his place and said it smelled like grape juice. So that would tell me that ol bigfoot is a vegetarian and probably why he is rarely seen as he isn't after us for a meal. :}
Re: BIGFOOT
I have never seen anything that would push me toward believing it. But my folks live in an area near a lot of "activity" in Washington. There are people out there that talk and tell stories about them just like you and me talking and telling stories about cats. My family seems to enjoy repeating the stories and, just like with Santa Clause when I was little, I can never quite tell if they believe or not.
Evidently they will never apear to a hunter, and rarely if ever to a grown man. Women and children are much more likely to be visited. Some of them think they are extra terrestrial.
My folks know an old man that leaves puzzles out there for them to solve, or answer, like a game, and sometimes they are solved. He has lots of stories.
I think pot is legal there also.
Although if you hand your shotgun to your son while you cross a fence, it is a felony. If he hands it back to you, it is another felony. That is unless you have back ground checks done on each other before you hand it over.
You can't hunt bear, lion or bobcat with hounds. I can't legally trap a mole in my parents yard.
Might be Bigfoot influenced law making going on out there. That is the strongest evidence of them in my mind. Infiltration.

Re: BIGFOOT
Bigfoot does he,she, was or is there really one. In different parts of the world including our native Americans folk lore have stories of big foot. I have two family members and a close friend that say and believe they have seen one. I am like you Perk I have spent a lot of time out in the woods and know a lot of people that are great woodsmen that have never seen one or sign from one. I have been asked if I believe there is such now? If there is a big foot it has the ability to come and go is how I answer the question. Which opens a different topic which is just as debatable, with some believers and some nay sayers. Myself I am one that has to see to believe. Dewey

Re: BIGFOOT
I know ole Bigfoot is real, or used to be. When we were 16 a buddy and I boated up a creek off the river one time to camp and fish for several days. Now this creek flows through a big swamp with no roads or any civilization for miles. It's a rough trip up this creek, have to drag the boat over logs, run the boat over logs and jump the outboard over and there's a couple of rocky places, takes 2-3 hours to get the 4 miles to our campsite if you make all the correct turns and don't get in any dead end creeks.
We didn't take a tent, just slept on the ground on a little island in the swamp right next to a spring in the creek. One night my buddy woke me up asking, what are you doing? I said I'm laying here sleeping. He said, then what is that standing there? I rolled over and in the flickering light of the dying camp fire I saw Bigfoot standing in the shadows just in side the brush! I was sleeping with a single shot 410, loaded with number 6s. I jumped up and that creature ran but I fired where it had been, jammed in another shell fired, jammed in another and fired again. My buddy said I had that single shot sounding like an automatic.
I swear, ole Bigfoot screamed just like a man every time that gun went off! Almost sounded like he screamed, don't shoot again there one time.
Didn't find any sign next morning, have been back many times since fishing with no other incidences.

Re: BIGFOOT
When I was a kid my grandpa lived in the Ozarks of Missouri near Alton. Right on the edge of the Mark Twain national forest. He must have gotten bored out there all alone, because from time to time he would go out at night and run around the hills. He would wear camo, face painted up and strap his old sawed off shotgun on his back. He would stand in the road when he heard cars coming and wait there until they got close enough to see him in the headlights, then run off the road into the trees. I wonder how many times he was mistaken for something like Bigfoot.
