Scrubrunner, they all have at least 1/2 running walker in them and that can run up to 5/8 to3/4 to full blooded running walker. And yes most are walker x treeing walker but have also crossed with blue tick and beagle. The black saddle back dog in picture 1 & 2 is 1/8 beagle x 7/8 running walker.

Perk, just took a look at your dogs. Really look good! I always favored them old lemon spotted dogs as in picture number 1. I've had a few good ones in the past.

Thanks South Texan. I do like lemon and white dogs but like all colors, can't say I favor any one specific color. Hard to beat the looks of a well built red dog, but I like them all! Yours were nice looking too, I like the spotted dogs alot

Perk, I e-mailed you his pedigree, was easier then typing it out with one finger. I don't know anything about her. I bought demon and a female littermate for deer dogs at 1 1/2 years old from a man a friend of mine knew. They had been started and ran in the pen on yotes. Man said they'd only been run on the outside a couple times. I don't know how much he really knew about his dogs, said the female was fast.
I found that she had a little colder nose than demon but I never saw her in front of him at a crossing. But they were both good dogs.
The hound you saw me with in The Chase was off of her.
Sorry to ramble so much, sometimes I feel like I'm better at pointing out what's wrong with my hounds than what's right with them. Guess that's one reason I give most away instead of selling them.

Scrubrunner, I like a man that dwells on the faults of his dogs rather than praise the good points of his dogs. A feller that does this is always trying to improve what he has and that's what it's all about no matter how good your dogs are. There are no perfect dogs or "I" haven't seen one yet.

I've seen hunters that only talk about the good points their dogs do and never mention a fault. I think some people just try to over look the faults and remember the good things. Well, in my book, they're going backwards if their goal is to always be improving what they have.

So...Scrubrunner, I'm with you, I can remember more of the faults of a dog better than his good good points. To each his own. Happy hunting.

South Texan, Quick question where does a person improve if he catches everything he runs, Jumps? A Cat race ain't long enough as is. So you can't better them with speed. No need adding nose there finding tracks every where. No need with brains there already smarter then the hunter. Just curious as what does one do. Comes a point when by adding to your dog's your sacrificing your race..

Merlo, you got me on that question! Can't answer it because I've never crossed that bridge! Bet it would be nice just dwelling in that moment when you knew there wasn't anything out there any better than what you already had.

I'd probably get bored and quit after a while because that's part of my challenge. Evaluating the dogs while trailing and running. Trying to figure out who needs to be doing this or that.

I guess you could at that point just hunt under worst conditions you can find to make it more challenging for you and your dogs. Congratulations!!

I've been fortunate to have seen a handful of top cat hounds in my life .I've never saw one that didn't have at least a minor flaw or two ..There are always areas a dog could be improved upon .

Yes every dog has its flaws some have less. But how many of us only hunt one or two dogs? Mark, My culls couldn't catch one locked in a Barn with it. My country is steep and rocky with nothing but blow downs. Not a thing in the dogs favor.

All my dogs were so perfect had to be careful when hunting with others not to tell how good they were. If the bobcats could hear our conversation those cats would just start falling out of the trees! Never lost a cat in the bluffs & yes those dogs could count to ten. Good hunting to all. Enjoyed reading your posts. Al

Well if the dogs you have catch everything and do everything you want them to do the only thing left is to see if you can keep it going year after year and breed your dogs and get the next generation to do it because once you get on top boy it is harder to stay on top happy hunting
