I was hunting on the coast when the dogs got treed on the other side of a canyon, after getting the dogs and making my way to the truck I slid about 20 feet down a steep hill side, This would have been O.K. but the bottom of the hill side droped straight off about 7 feet in to a dry creek bed, Well when I fell that last 7 feet into the creek bed a tire sized boulder got in my way and I landed on it knee first  . Ended up with a broken knee cap, pulled ligamants and torn cartalidge. The guy I was with asked if I was crying, I lied and told him no. :D

I have had a lot of bumps, bruises, cuts and such. Had a mule flip over backwards in a creek in Arizona lion hunting one time and we went down thru a big patch of catclaw. I looked like I had been shot thru a salad shooter when I came out of that mess, but nothing long term. I once had a lion bayed up under a bluff and I was hanging out over the edge looking down on the dogs and the lion trying to get a picture when the bank I was on gave way and I went crashing down about 15 feet and land right between the lion and the hounds. Scared the hell out of me and the lion too I guess cuz he bailed out of there jumping right over me, and off the bluff he went. I had landed with one leg somehow straight out in front of me and I tore my hamstring muscle badly. It took a long time to get over that one and I drug that leg around for a long time and still after nearly 20 years have a knot in the back of my leg from it. That was probably the worse one. Two real close calls that could have been fatal turned out ok in the end.First one I had a bobcat bluffed up in a sandstone boulder pile. There was a good deal of snow on the rocks and some ice. I was picking my way around in there to get down to the cat all alone ofcourse, and I step on a piece of hidden ice and pitched forward off a big slab of rock. My foot however got hung between two other rocks and it stopped me in mid fall and my head slammed into the rock and knocked me out cold. NJot sure how long I hung there but when I came to I was in a bad way. I couldn't hardly move and the blood had all run to my head and I was bleeding out the nose and from a big gash on my head. I finally got enough strength to get ahold of the rock and sort of do a backwards or uphill push up and my foot cam loose and I fell the rest of the way off and landed with a thude. I finally got out of there and made it to my truck and to the doctor. Heck I could have died there and they wouldn't have found me till the birds started working on me. LOL!
