dogs working
Actually James, I also check this forum pretty often, but since my posts seldom generate much response, I have pretty much quit posting on any of the boards of which I am a member.
Here are some pics I took last week. This was a long way from being the biggest hog I have ever taken, but he does rank right up there in terms of cutters. I turned out on this hog about 6 oclock in the morning and these pictures were taken about 8:30 and were several miles back in the hills. The pictures don’t do justice to how well the dogs worked to bring this bad hog to bay.
Here is a pic of the dogs working the hog.
action
Here is a pic of the hog loaded on the 4 wheeler. (I always take a pic of the hog loaded on the 4 wheeler because it gives scale and makes it easier to compare the size of hogs in the pictures.

That is a awesome action shot! That is my favorite thing to see. If you are taking action shots like that and NOT posting them then you need your a$$ kicked.......LOL
Thanks for posting Billy.
I have been on vaction in Florida and it has been so damn hot here I have not been very motivated to hunt. It has been about 3 weeks since I caught a hog so I guess I will get back in the woods here pretty soon.
I hope you keep posting

LOL
It has been awhile since anybody tried it. Let me know when you are coming up to give it a shot and we can schedule a hunt first(depending on how hard you kick, I may not be in shape to hunt after). LOL
My old camera didn't have enough zoom that I wanted to be focusing on the camera when I was close enough to the hog to get good pics. My new camera has better zoom, but there is usually to much brush to get really good action pics.
I had a chance to get some really good action pics last January, the dogs bayed up a hog that weighed about 280 lbs right out in the open, nothing bigger than a cactus within 100 yard, but when I tried to take some pics, I found out that the -10 degree temp had killed the camera batteries. Of course, that will not be a problem this time of year so hopefully I will get more pics next time.
I know what you mean about the heat, I had two dogs come dangerously close to heat stroking on that last hunt. If it had not been for the gps collar I probably could not have found one of them in time. The only hunting I am doing right now is depradation hunts for calf killers or for hogs that are rooting up my alfalfa.
Here is a trail cam pic of some more hogs that are rooting up my alfalfa. I will probably be going after them next weekend or early next week. The weather man says that our temps should cool down about 20 degree during that time, so I will give it a try.

It is HOT here. Temps have been in the upper 90's and with only 3.5in of rain for the year we are very dry and dusty.
I went out yesterday and helped a land owner clear brush for a little while and then rigged the dogs an hour before dark. I had 2 dogs and they came off the box at a feeder. My plott made a 15-20min loop.
While waiting on him to return my Cur gyp left out. We tracked up to her almost 2miles on my GPS and saw some shoats. Kicked my Plott out on them and he went to doing his normal CRUNCH, SHAKE......NEXT! I watched him tear through 2 of them and then heard my cur bayed a good ways ahead still.
She had a big boar bayed. We watched the bay for a min(forgot the camera for action shots) then turned loose Rhino my Amerigo and he rocketed into the cedar and came up with a 80lb boar that I didnt even know was there and the big boar walked off. OH WELL maybe I will get him next time.

Thanks 12 Guage,
It does make it interesting trying to make a living raising cattle here right now.
Here are some pics from last year, I don't remember if I posted them at the time or not.

My older female is at home with a litter of pups and my younger one got left at home since it was to be a short hunt. I wanted to take the min. amount of dogs to get by.
Did you guys get any snow last year? I was in Ruidoso in 06(I think) and they were in a drought then.
