Hahaha. You gotta wonder why the biggest names in the business get so offended by this thread then.. It’s just a thread, and what one man wants to try. If you don’t like it don’t read it.Leapordcur1 wrote:The asshats are ones that glossed The Ultimate BobCat Dog when never caught A Cat let alone many. Maybe it could be those “ big names” either don’t exist or if they do exist, they must feel threatened in some manner, and if they were as big as they think then they know they’ve got nothing to worry about, on the other hand...
In this life there’s those who can and those who can’t, the ones who can, careless about what others are doing and focus their time, effort, and attention on bettering themselves and what they got going in their own life, those who can’t, are that way because they don’t know how, and because they themselves don’t have the capabilities of carrying out such a task they have it in their head that it just simply can’t be done, such as mule man and his stance on breeding and having high litter success rates, it’s all a crap shoot according to his own previous post, that’s simply because he doesn’t know how to go about it or doesn’t understand the science of genetics and inheritance, there are way more hunters that are breeding their own stock and having high and very good turn out rates on their litters and doing it with consistency and predictability than what can be read about about on a forum or in a magazine, and they are in just about all aspects of hunting with dogs, and the bigger part of those guys that are will very seldom have an ad anywhere for their dogs, their usually sold as soon as the man makes the decision to do so, those that know how and are actually doing it figured out a long time ago that it’s a better pay off in the long run to invest the time and effort it takes to be pessimistic about something into actually learning how to create great things and acquiring the knowledge to do it, especially in the age of the internet there’s no excuse, not putting down on Muleman and his pack of dogs or his capability as a hunter and handler but it doesn’t take a brilliant individual to go through enough dogs and hunted enough to put together a pack, and not saying that how he does it is the right or wrong way but will say that it’s definitely NOT THE ONLY WAY, I can take you on a drive around here and show you guys who hunt a lot more than I do and have way more dogs than I do but don’t have the success rate in the field or the breeding pen that I do, not bc I’m the best or lord of the dogs but bc I had a passion to understand and learn to do the right way all the stuff I was getting wrong or wasn’t having the results of those doing it successfully with their own dogs they bred up were, study whose successful on a consistent basis in whatever region your hunting and whatever game your after and it all starts to become clear that those at the top of their game all have common similarities and are at the top for a reason and 95% aren’t there because they went through enough dogs and hunted them to the point that they had no choice but to make decent dogs, and I mean the ones with the most actual success, not those with the biggest following or fan club, there’s a huge difference in a natural born dog and a man made dog the same difference between DOGMEN and just men with dogs, if you have no desire in becoming a successful breeder that’s absolutely fine, but because you’re not the one that going to do it that way doesn’t mean that those who do are fools...
Mr. “Leapord” it’s hard for anyone to take you serious or consider you legit with your consistent misuse of language, dialect, or vernacular, and unorthodox punctuation, whichever it maybe, I haven’t been able to put a finger on which it is, it is also hard for you to be considered legit when all you do is jump on one thread to try and belittle the man creating it, at least Mr. Muleman takes part in other conversations and maintains his point of views on certain subjects, he does so because those are his ways and beliefs, someone like him can be taking serious and his opinions respected even if the majority doesn’t agree, you on the other hand are being pushed to do so by either your own incompetent ego or are being played the puppet by these “bobcat masters” you yourself say are PMing you, either of the two doesn’t help your argument, and makes these “best in the business bobcat hunters” look even less legit than you, if someone is so sure of their stance on a particular matter then they’d have no problem defending that same stance, perhaps it’s just to easier to go get your dogs from someone who has already done the hard part and all you’ve done is rode their coat tails and feel entitled to belittle another mans willingness to do what you have not or can not, I have a very strong background and upbringing in game dogs and game fowl and was raised in a culture that if you thought your stuff was so such superior than the next guys then it was as simple as bring your best and leave the rest and go compare stock to stock and let your animal do it own talking, it was as simple as that, if yours didn’t hold up you still gained the respect of those in the game , unlike talkers who wouldn’t step up but couldn’t shut up, I’m not trying to speak on Dans behalf at all and if I’m crossing a line he has all rights to shut me down anytime, Dan has invited several of his naysayers on hunts, far as I know he’s had no takers, if that’s the case, ask him for a mutual hunt, if you’re so sure of your accusations based on the word of others then it should be a cake walk for a hunter of your magnitude...
There was a point in time in this nations history and it’s entranced romance with the game of football where the forward pass was considered the decimation of the sport and the love affair our countrymen from all walks of life had with the game, the traditionalist had their minds made up that the ground and pound and running of the ball was the only way it could, should, and would be done, and any other way was just down right idiotic, those stuck in their ways even pushed for it to be outlawed, take a look at today’s game, it’s mainly pass oriented and run the ball second, all because a few men discovered a new, never before heard of, way of accomplishing the same end goal....
In no way am I saying that what Dan is working on is going to revolutionize bobcat hunting with hounds, I’m not even a bobcat hunter nor do I know Dan personally or if he even hunts at all, I don’t care, he’ll have my admiration and respect because he had a vision that he thought could improve on the way a certain task is carried out in certain situations and actually stepped outside of the comfort zones that kill innovation and curtail creativity and is trying it out and proved he had an even bigger set than most and shared his ideas, thoughts, and observations throughout this journey of uncharted territory with the world despite knowing the ridicule and back lash he was certain he was going to receive from his fellow peers within the hounding community, the very ones who are supposed to be on the same team, that’s on the same side of the fight to preserve our way of life, despite knowing all of what was to come before hand he chose to take advantage of the days of life were given and make the most of it by seeing a vision into a reality unlike the countless others out there and on here that would’ve loved to have tried this or that but didn’t because they feared the ridicule that came along with it, change and innovation is a part of life rather we choose to except it or not, the same ones who ridiculed the garmin tracking system when it first came out are now using it today once they realized it wasn’t witchcraft and took the time to learn it, there’s always going to be those who are just “those guys” who can’t help or control the urge to be rude or belligerent it’s genetically embedded in them to be that way just the same as a lot today’s coons dogs being so good they actually know which tree a coon is likely to go up and beat them to it, they can’t help themselves, so instead of being so dang quick to make fun of or call someone a fool because they see a different way of doing something, take a brief history lesson on humanity and the great things created that originated from a thought to improve a process and you’ll soon realize those same fools eventually became legends, and changed humanity, rather it be the way a game of football is played, the horsepower under the hood of a hot rod, or maybe one day how a dang bobcat is caught, quit being sticks in the mud and become open minded, I’m not saying to go out and agree with every differing opinion and point of view on things, just to take it what it’s worth to you, if you feel as if it’s worth nothing to you then that’s what you should contribute back to it, if you agree with some stuff and disagree with other, take the stuff you agree with and utilize it to your advantage and maturely discuss the things you don’t agree on if you choose to do so, it’s that simple, it cost us 0.00$ to be decent human beings, on the flip side there isn’t a numerical value great enough to compare with to show us the cost of being flat out evil and blatantly disrespectful just for the spite of it, those actions have everlasting repayments throughout this life and the next and are echoed for eternity, I’ll step off my soap box and wash under my own door mat now, I’ve got dogs that need tending, pups that need some observing done and notes taken and a little studying to do later on that may help me improve on myself and my dogs, there’s a lot more less benefitting stuff to take my time away from improvement, like this post and topic that for some reason other than my own I’m internally convicted to defend, perhaps it’s because I went against the norm of my local peers and made my own path in a very similar manner or it’s because I don’t like a bully, whatever it maybe I choose to focus my energy and attention on bringing positivity in some form or another back into our world...

Dang Goose. That was some good writing; Every sentence worthy of serious thought. I might have to read that again.
I might have to re-think what people tell me about hog hunters.
You should have been there when they wrote the Declaration of Independence.
I might title your piece “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness”

Literature and biology have always came easy and naturally for me, for whatever reason, and I’m way better at expressing what’s in my head through writing than actually trying to speak them, one of the reasons I abandoned my teaching career before it ever started...
The state of La created a “Feral Hog Advisory Mngt Task Force” I was appointed to by our states former secretary of wild life and fisheries on the dog hunters behalf and was elected vice chairman, they had a rude awakening and had to rethink their strategy when they realized that “dumb white red neck hog hunter” they thought they had chosen turned out to be a pretty intelligent and educated piece of po dunk trash and knew what he was talking about and wasn’t going to have the wool pulled over my eyes, and quickly exposed what was really going on under the table, not blowing my own horn but calling it how it is and how it’s not, I’m a hog hunter bc of the availability of game and challenge it presents when done in the traditional manner of baying the hog with bay dogs after a trail, jump, and run, and then catching it with lead in catch dogs, and while creating and maintaining a family of dogs to do so, if I were worried about catching and killing I’d have a yard full of running catchdogs and a gun cabinet with the latest night vision and thermal scopes and to me there’s no sport in that, I’ll eventually ascend to the bobcat hunting level when life allows me to be dedicated to it and my son is old enough to take this hog dog venture over...
I try to not leave no stone unturned when attempting to get a point across even if I do get long in the words...

Contrary to the popular beliefs of some, ive got waaaaaaaayyy more than a big void in between my ears and can figure out just about anything any other man can do, might not be as good at it but I at least understand the concept, especially when it comes to stuff I’m passionate about, don’t let my post on here lead your opinions of me astray, just because I’m not afraid to go against the norm or talk about or bring to the table for discussion off the wall ideologies pertaining to hunting with hounds doesn’t mean I can’t or won’t back up the things I say, by no means am I cocky at all or say things just to get some attention but I am very confident in my craft and what I’ve created and the knowledge and lessons I’ve collected along the way...macedonia mule man wrote:David, doesn’t sound like a Goose comment. Why is Missouri called the Show-Me State?
Re: !!! The Ultimate Bobcat Dog: Part 2.0 !!!
S. Howmest was known for eating roasted ‘possum. He lived in Missouri and became known as Missouri S. Howmest. A folk song was written about him called “What Missouri S. Howmest Ate.” He took an email as Missourishowmestate. People saw the email address and thought it divided like this: Missouri Show me state instead of Missouri S. Howmest Ate. “Show Me State” became a nick name for Missouri.Irish Jack wrote:Why is Missouri called the Show-Me State?
It’s just a guess honestly. It might not be 100% accurate.
Re: !!! The Ultimate Bobcat Dog: Part 2.0 !!!
I looked it up. I guess I was wrong. Wasn’t really even close. They gave four different stories as to why Missouri might be called that. But no one knows for sure according to them. So your guess is as good as mine. Well, your guess might even be better than mine.

Irish is referencing the code of old school true houndsman. Lot of men when hearing blowing about hounds say don't tell me Show Me. You keyboard warriors need out more.Irish Jack wrote:Why is Missouri called the Show-Me State?

Curious why Dan might even want to show you his dogs work even if they did. Nothing to gain for sure.
Re: !!! The Ultimate Bobcat Dog: Part 2.0 !!!
Leapordcur1, what is your real name, and what state do you live in? I get around, and would like to stop in for a visit when I get in your neighborhood; Unless you are a keyboard warrior just blowing, that is. You can Show me.Leapordcur1 wrote:Irish is referencing the code of old school true houndsman. Lot of men when hearing blowing about hounds say don't tell me Show Me. I like to learn, so, show me. I don’t think you hunt cats, but I like squirrel hunting or whatever you do. Show me.

P.S. Leapordcur1, I am kind of a slow learner in reality, but I will be attentive and paying attention, and I know I will figure some things out. I might even be able to teach you a couple things. I am not a great speller, and I think the name of your chosen dog breed is hard to spell, (not spelled how it sounds) but I can teach you how to look it up. So it would be a win/win.
