Lol lapdog isn’t bad, I’ve been called worse and in all fairness I’m probably closer to a lap dog these days. We’ve been going but not a lot. LOTS of rain has kept us out of places due to flooded bottoms or fear of tearing up someone’s place with vehicles. My youngest son plays select baseball so that takes a lot of my time as well, I wouldn’t trade it though. Me, my youngest son, and my nephew made a little hunt Friday. Nothing special but it was a good time. Cast our 2 two year old littermates and two young females. One is out or family of dogs and is about 14 months I think and the other is an older McDuffie bred leopard cur that I’m starting for a buddy. Held my nephews older gyp back and let them get good and gone and maybe have a chance to strike ahead of her. They bayed at about 700yards from us and the bay busted when the old gyp got there. The little leopard gyp was doing her own thing and wasn’t there. The hog broke a couple of times but they kept making him stop. We got up to the bay about the same time as she did and the boar hog started educating her. For whatever reasons he eyeballed her and literally ran her down. She literally ran within 10-15 feet of me with him on her butt. She thought she was caught and hollered and fell over submissive and he went right over the top of her. The other dogs were right on his behind and we had him caught in 100 yards or so. Caught two more but they were smaller. I was pleased with the dog work.

Sounds like a blast, we've been getting a ton or rain as well.

Lol well it’s good to hear one of us has been hunting! I’m on day 8 of 10. I have vacation next week so I’m gonna try to get out and hunt a few days. My main goal is to pour the slab for the dog kennels though. Gonna have to order another load of gravel, rent a tractor, pack the pad down and then fork it up, lay rebar and then order the cement. Should go fairly good if I can get someone to help me.

Shouldn’t be too hard to find help with that. EVERYBODY this day and team is all about hard work. And if you’ll pay’ m $20 hr I’m sure they will bring their $2 hr work ethics.

Lol exactly, $2 work ethics! I talked with my older brother today. He’s gonna come help me tue-wednext week. He’s a hard worker and knows more about concrete than I do. So he will be a huge help! I just need to finish the pad and get the forms up so we can pour it. All said and done, I settled on a 15x 50 pad and I’ll figure out a drain system for spraying the kennels out, eventually. Probably a grate that leads to a french drain or a home made septic system.

I know its been talked about over and over...but what are you guys and gals feeding these days. Always interested in trying something new that doesn't break the bank. Last summer I switched to country vet, I believe the 27protien and 12 percent fat blend. Dogs did well on it. Only dog food I've ever opened the bag and thought it smelled good. Recently a buddy was going to pick up some k9 rage from a dealer and I think its 26 protein and 20 fat so I figured I'd give it a try since it was around 4 dollars less a bag. So far I think they are doing very well.

I’m feeding Diamond Hi Energy. All my dogs are healthy, no skin issues and they don’t stink. Their poop is solid and their kennels don’t stink. I should probably switch them to something with less protein since it’s summer. But I’m feeding about 2 cups once a day and they’re still getting fat. It’s been a busy spring for me and I haven’t been getting out enough. Gonna try to do an alignment on my hunting truck today and then go out early tomorrow morning.

I’m feeding the Showtime 24/20. I give $37/50#. I like it pretty good. I’ve fed stuff I liked better but it got so outrageous price wise that my po butt had to find something else. Black gold was real good and so was the Victor. I don’t like feeding over 24% protein especially in the summer. My dogs maintain weight and muscle good but I’m not hunting them everyday either. They keep that good glossy look too.

I feed Black Gold Explorer Original 26/18 (black bag); it went up the last couple years to $49/50 lbs bag, but local store sells it on sale once in a while for $45/50 lbs. My mentor and a friend of his who run a lot of dry ground feed their hounds this same food (why I now do). My hounds keep same weight year-round so long as I adjust depending on their activity. I have three and run them regularly in summer to keep in shape, and hunt hard in winter and this food seems to do them well. They maintain energy levels all day while pushing a track hard, and then in summer when we hunt a little less (gotta pay bills sometime!) I cut them back and they keep a good weight and healthy skin, coat, nails, etc. Feel free to pm or ask any questions.

Never tried the show time or even seen it before I looked it up after u mentioned it lawdawg. I find it strange how you can get certain foods in different areas. I have fed black gold numerous times but it causes my dogs to have very loose yellow stool everytime. Last fall our grocery store had the black bags at 35 if u bought a pallet now its 46. I don't mind paying a bit extra if its helping the dogs but I use to feed cheap Purina dog chow and the dogs always looked and hunted good on it, but in the last 2 years I think they changed something so I started trying different and way more expensive foods and still havent settled on one yet.

These companies change hands and new management comes in and they start looking at ways to make more money. The two most obvious ways are the two they go with. Raise the price and buy cheaper ingredients. The thought of let’s just make a superior affordable product and sale more never crosses their mind.

So my brother in Montana started putting out trail cameras, in this video clip he gets a black bear, The first thing I notice is the bear has some fur hanging from his rear end, have any of you more experienced guys ever seen this? Is it just a shedding condition, and injury? Talk to me Goose...

It looks like shedding to me. I froze it when he was right in front of the camera but it could be either.
