See now your setting me up. I’m going to get up there and these pot lickers won’t be able to catch what you could catch with a feed sack lol.

Joe, how’s the weather been treating you?

Law, how’s the hog huntin been?

I haven’t been hunting in a month or so due to work and my niece getting married. I exercised the dogs 2 nights ago, hoping to tree a coon but didn’t have any luck.

It’s crazy hot and humid. My nephew and I made a run this morning caught one smaller hog. The dogs rolled over and were split bayed. The closest to us broke right before we got to it. It headed to some harder to get to country and we toned the old gyp back in after about 700 yards. Headed to the other bay and they had it caught for a minute but it got lose in the crazy briar thicket and head high weeds. There was zero air in there and by this time me and the dogs were all looking for a water hole to lay in lol.

Weather has actually been pleasant been in the 70's for a few days, left the house at 5am today and it was 45 degrees and had rained hard all night. Been working some crazy hours but still managing to get the dogs out for some exercise most weekends.

That sounds pretty fantastic, Joe! It’s been getting up to 108 down here. Right now it’s been mid 90’s for the last week or so.

It was 107 here today and humid. I laughed at my neighbor. She said it’s so hot that when she opened her front door it was like she was checking on her corn bread. I don’t know if it’s true or not but they say a lady in Houston cooked eggs in her mail box the other day. Seems a little exaggerated but it’s dang sure hot enough to entertain the thought of it.

Hard pass on living anywhere like that. Tried to help the local sheriffs chase a lion of town in a very high tourism city today. Cat killed a deer in someone's backyard only about 120 yards from the main street where all the activities take place. It had been back 2 the kill from the night before but it had rained so much the dogs couldn't trail it on the city streets even though most were gravel. When they were on mowed grass they could move it though but it was completely surrounded in dirt and paved roads.

Dang it! Hounds sure are impressive. I sure wish I could smell as good as they can. I probably wouldn’t want anything to do with stinkin assed people but I’d darn sure use it for huntin.

Do you think you’ll get another shot at that cat or do you think he’ll move on when he realizes you and the hounds were there?

Sheriff removed the kill after I gave up but that female and her nearly grown kittens have been frequenting town a ton since around January. The last time I caught them my 2 young females treed all three about 80 yards apart, had the tom which was around 80 or 90 pounds in 1 tree and the mother and juvenile female in a another tree and that juvenile was almost as big as the mother. Someone will end up shooting them for trespassing

Did they not dart them when you treed them last time? I don’t know much about cat habits. Do they usually bed in the same place if they are staying in a particular area?

I haven't caught them in town , righr outside in the hills. State policy is to kill any lion deemed a "problem " but they will trap and relocate a bear of either species multiple times before its killed. Even when they bring out the tranquilizers they purposely over dope them so they die without the onlookers knowing it.
