Paul Laney and long time cat man Dick Laney (Father)

Do not know if all these "old time cat men" are still with us but are surley worth mentioning, George Perry, Rollie Mclaughlin, Don Helstrom,
V.E. Lynch,

All east coast cat hunters if my memory serves me right.

Jeff....Rollie Mac is well into his 80's and I'd hate to be the bobcat that run in front of him if he had the old 12 ga in his hands. :D

Both George and Donnie are still kickin.

Went to school with Rollie's gorgeous daughter and live within 10 miles of all these old time cathunters.

Maineiac, sure is a small world it seems at times.

My uncle, Ed Beckley spoke of these men often, at least anytime the subject of cats and hounds came up, My uncle was a hardcore woodsman the type that threw in a few stitches for himself when need be, and was not real easy to impress, but these men had his respect, for the type of woodsmen they were.

Take Care,

These guys were cathuntin, bear huntin and beaver trappin machines.from the late 60's up into at least the mid-80's that I know of.

Donnie still has a huge outfitter business,George still works with him in Maine an Canada.

Dont think Donnie cat hunts at all now,but I know George gets out now and again with the Tobey Brothers and both Paul and Dick Laney. When these guys hit the woods....cats are gonna die.Guys of this caliber can put cats on the game pole with mediocre dogs.

And I do definitly concur with Beaverbill....Nelson Cole is as good a cat man as there is too.

I couldnt agree more, that name speaks for itself in my neck of the woods.

That would of been on my list also for east coast, but "Spanky" on the post above me covered Nelson Cole,
Nelson Cole and his reputation/ethics has earned his name being mentioned on here a bunch for the east coast catmen, I have his Cat & Dogs video and luv watching it, sure gets me fired up and off the couch everytime I watch it, unfortunatly my old VCR broke  so I need to get it in DVD.

Take Care.
