Hagar pups are on the way. I bred a female of mine named Shirley to Hagar. Shirley is out of 2 dogs bred by Mike Leonard. Mike bred Josie to Gunner and thats where Molly (Shirley's Mother) came from. Mike bred Josie to Booger and thas where Tuck (Shirley's Dad) came from. Tom Bledsoe in Idaho owns Tuck and Molly and bred them together and Shirley was one of the pups.

Shirley did a great job on lions last winter. She proved to me over and over that she could move a bad track. She trees like a champ and is gritty on the ground. I started bear hunting her this spring and she took right to it. She is getting too large now to hunt as the pups are due in a week and from the looks of her, it should be a large litter. I don't know how many will be available as some are already spoken for.

If you are interested let me know.

Should be some fantastic big houndy, cold nosed dogs. Actually Molly's father was Booger and Tuck's father was Gunner. It makes little difference as both of these dogs were bred very similarly. Both bred by Jeff Allen of Utah and out of his old strain dogs. Both of these dogs were what you want to catch lions under bad conditions they could do it all. Gunner was a bit too brave for bear hunting and never met a bear he didn't think he could whip by himself. Thank goodness he never got killed by a bear but I did limit the bear hunting with him as he would bite them right in the face. These two dogs accounted for well over a hundred lions each, as well as bobcats and bear.Josie not much more can be said about this dog she was a complete big game dog under all conditions. Her blood still flows in the packs of a number of the southwest's most successful lion hunters.
Cross all this on the Hag himself and it should be dynamite!

Mike, thanks for the info. on Scar's mom! It's always cool to learn more about the lineage of a hound you own.

Dan- can't wait to see photos of those Hagar bred pups! Scar has improved her treeing greatly in the last month, and is turning into a real well rounded pup.
At one year old she weighs 62 pounds- guess I under estimated that!

Well,
The pups are here. Shirley had 4 of them. 3 males and 1 female. 1 male is definitly going to be a red tick. 1 male and 1 female are mostly white with a 1 or 2 loud black spots and the last male is a tri colored walker looking pup.

look at the head on that Teddy Bear in the middle!

He is going to look like his Grandma Joie's littermate brother Wyatt. What a hound!Hagar and Big John influence, can't go wrong there!
